I had not been to Cruising Grand in a couple of weeks, sick first, then in Mexico, the Cruising Grand meets will end with summer. Will miss one more due to Mississippi travel. Must not miss any others.
Took the perfect 70mm 1:5 Micro-Nikkor to cruising grand, have not photographed the lens yet, here is the ebay photo:
Lens was used on a Lei-Nik novoflex and a kipon F to Z manual focus adapter/helicoid which I find of good quality. The 55mm 1.2 CRT can be mounted this way but is good for macro only.
Sorry for the long post, want to share the cars, the lens rendering is impressive, sharp with beautiful OOF transition, smooth out of focus rendition. Lens is optimized for macro range but does well to infinity.
Sorry the bug got you again, my brother-in-law just had it, said it was rough.
Outstanding job with the 28/3.5. Nice sleeper lens for the larger sensors

Good to see you back Glen.
Nice Panos Samy, can you show a pic of the exotic sounding rig?
Love the last shot George, I never seem to get those symmetrical!
I have had covid again ! But managed to get out to Curtis Falls with the recently arrived P.C. 28/3.5 on the gfx. Very harsh sun extreme dynamic range, had to bracket for highlights and shadows but hey at least I got out of the house. Felt rather crook after though.
Wow, that lens shines! Photographer is not too shabby either

Glen,
Love that last one with the guy fly across the lake - what a shot.

Thanks all for the warm response to my return! As much as this thread may shift and change in various ways, it's warmth and friendliness remain unaltered.
Here is another set of images from our little cruise, all of which were shot with the 105 f/1.8 ai-s on my XT-2, and processed through Lightroom Classic and Nik Color Efex. They show various water activities that were underway, including recreational salmon fishing in the first shot, a commercial fishing boat in the second shot, and a kite surfer in the third photo who apparently couldn't resist the passing audience.
Rafael,
Simply excellent results and image quality - congrats.

Andy,
Treat yourself well, and get plenty of rest. Hope your recovery is full. You did a great job with the drastic dynamic range, and creating a HDR image with natural colors.

And the battery life on it is just as good as the D200's... but the D200 grip works in it too.

Thanks you, Siphiwe.
Keep hunting for the colorful S5, it is a very different picture taker and takes practice to get the best out of it. The super CCD sensor behaves nothing like a CMOS. I think you will enjoy the beast plus has excellent build and controls.
Went to a nearby lake yesterday where I hoped to find red-winged black birds. They are always there on the south shore of a 100 acre lake flying acrobatics among the cat tails. There were none. No birds of any type, and usually songs birds are everywhere. I have noticed a decrease at home, but none is spooky. The bug sounds were too loud, and the absence of bird song and talk very noticeable. Has West Nile virus or some other pathogen been attacking birds recently? The web claims 50% of the bird population has disappeared since 1970, or 3 billion birds. Loss of habitat, food sources, and predators are other reasons the web blames.
Rafael, it's great once again to view your mouthwatering lens porn together with your annual tradition of Cruising Grand photos! I went to a classic car show in Comox yesterday, so I'll have some auto images to post soon myself.
In the meantime, here is my final set from our Tuesday cruise, showing shipboard views of some of the passing scenery. There are two shots from the 105 f/1.8 ai-s, two from the 16 f/3.5 ai fisheye, and one from the 28-50 ai-s. That's my significantly better half looking picturesque in the final photo.

Thanks George! I tend to take larger aperture lenses to Cruising Grand and use them wide open, I do like the mix of sharp and soft areas in the image and the idea of the car more than a super detailed photo, I thought. Taking the 70mm f/5 forced me to use smaller apertures, and much to my surprise the feeling of the images did not change dramatically. If anything the images became more enjoyable with the added detail while retaining excellent OOF backgrounds. The signature of these images has not been so much the large apertures, it is the magic hour light and whichever composition and processing I add.
The rendering of the 70mm 1:5 exceeded all my expectations, the Z6 is not enough camera for it. Super sharp and also very pleasing focus transition and OOF rendition, nice contrast and color too. Very happy with it.

Jim, the 70mm Micro-Nikkor is a winner for both Micro and normal photos, very happy with it. a long time ago I had a chance to buy one for $100 but I did not know what the lens was so I passed. Ha to pay a lot more for this one but it is worth the $.

Rafael, that is an awesome series of classic autos. Wish I had similar photo opportunities around here instead of ice cream trucks an yellow taxis.
The Micro Nikkor 70/1.5 is one smoking lens that was unaware existed. Dong a bit of reading, it seems to be a rare bird.
The little w-Nikkor looks new, great find!
Serge
Thank you Serge, these cars do not compare to the wide range of landscapes that you share with us. Consider my self lucky to be able to drive 4 miles on my old Vette and park in the middle of all these beauties. The 70mm Micro-Nikkor is showing me what I am missing by refusing to close my lenses down. Bokeh is not the end-all.
