There's been some great stuff posted lately! Just to select a few that stood out for me:
Andy, all of your recent cityscapes have been excellent, but the most recent colour version definitely is a wall-hanger!
Laura, your lighthouse image is very nicely executed!
Scott (mp356), those Acadia photos have fantastic colours, definition, and composition!
Here are some photos of cool, clean, spring run-off in the Canadian Rockies.
Nikkor 800/8 AI-S, D3X, ISO 100, 30sec, f/16, daylight white balance:
First real shot with this newly arrived beast shows downtown Chicago from 12 miles away: Hancock building, Aon building, Water Tower Place, Four Seasons. Check out those 18-point sunstars! I picked the image with an airliner going by. Summer haze and air gradients softened the results a bit. As requested, here's a pic of the rig:
Will purchase a gimbal tomorrow since my ball head is a joke with this load.
I was in the Jax, Florida area yesterday for my niece's wedding. While killing time yesterday morning, I went for a short drive along the St. Johns River. Here are a couple of shots taken from a small park along the river.
Figurehead from HMS Marlborough, the Spinnaker and, most importantly, my significant other-half touting the IR camera.
HMS Marlborough, a 6500 ton 131 gun battle sailing ship built in 1855, was the last of her kind to have a figurehead.
The figurehead was placed here in 2002 during the redevelopment of the Gunwharf Quays area.

Just trying to see the sights.
Tomorrow is the last full day in Malaga, then it's on to Sevilla for a couple of days. Then it's backtracking our way back home via Madrid, Lisbon, Vancouver. We do have a full day again in Lisbon, so there should be a few more pics from there before we head home. Planes, trains, and taxis!

I liked Sevilla better than Malaga. Beautiful Cathedral and Palace besides a lot of other things.
If you have time in Madrid have a look at "Real Basilica de San Francisco el Grande". The most beautiful Basilica I've ever seen. And take your fish with you.

Wow. Quite a shot from that distance with the summer atmospherics. Yep, you will definitely need a gimbal with that beast
Thanks! I have a Wimberley WH-200 coming tomorrow, and a Gitzo Series 4 just for luck. I usually shoot in the studio, so atmospheric conditions and available light are not my normal concerns. Most of my subjects are inches or feet away, not miles. This 800mm pegs at 10m (longer than my studio).
