Thanks for the heads-up on the Ilford HP4+. I'll have to get a couple of rolls and see how it works for me. I haven't shot film in a few years, but this has inspired me to shoot more. I'm also going to get my F2 and my F out and put them to work.
I absolutely love the feel of the S2 in my hands and they way it works. I'm planning a trip to Colorado in July, and plan to take it along with my D610. I'll be using the S2 to shoot B&W film exclusively.
Love what I'm seeing here on the forum. Have not been shooting much lately and it'll be even less this coming month. I cut myself really bad on the left thumb while preparing a sea trout I caught the other day (yes I caught one, will post a shot when I come home from post op). The sinew did get pretty bad beaten up with my super sharp knife. I'll just have to hope the doctors prescription for rehab will be manual photography
Keep all that fantastic work coming so I can kill some time and enjoy

Jeff, love these angles - quite unique views of Mammoth Mountain.
I hope to get out in July for some seriously white landscapes - this is a special year and I don't want to miss it, even though it'll mean a lot of wet feed and endless slogs across massive snow fields, even in late July.
Thanks, Peter.
It's going to be a very interesting summer season in Mammoth and the Sierra. As you probably know, the lakes region, Red's Meadow, the Post-pile and the trails out to the John Muir Trail are usually open by mid-June, but this year could be a bit different.
I made it out to Tamarack and it was like January. The Twin Lakes were frozen solid and the snow levels on the backside were unusually high for late March. It was pretty cool.
Here are a few pics of Crystal Crag, Twin Lakes, the Hole in the Wall and Mammoth Rock.

Hope your thumb heals fast. those types of cuts can hurt the worse. I LOVE sea trout, hope you were able to eat it.
Interesting George, none of my unmodified tick mark samples of the 10.5 or the 5cm fit on my Df.
Will have to analyze more, the lip on those rear mounts is definitely deeper. I have the same issue with trying those lenses on the F4S/E.

May be variances in that. My tick mark 5cm fits. It is close but it fits without the aperture ring rubbing. I am sure it is not modified. The aperture ring screws on so there is some room for clearance depending on how it is installed. Realized that when I disassembled it for cleaning.
A 10.5cm that fits on almost anything - the 10.5cm f4 T lens at f/5.6 on the Df at Marina Del Rey in Los Angeles. A very lightweight carry around combo.

Bummer on the sliced thumb. What I did when I was down and out with rotator cuff surgery, was to plop the camera on my tripod and use a remote shutter trigger. Took family photos for son's graduation with his bachelors degree five days after surgery like that

Leighton, do you have someone fill in now that you're out of action for awhile? Just curious, it can't be easy for Barbara running the farm alone I reckon.

I last was up at Crustal Crag in April of 2013, and even though it was an OK winter, it wasn't even close to 100%. Lakes were frozen, but there was barely any snow on the road, plus everything was on melt-mode. Going to be very different this year. Check out this NY Times article about snow depth this year
I will make every effort to get to the mountains this year, but summer will be difficult to pull off. If that fails, I'll be out in late fall as originally intended last year. Perhaps there will still be some old snow, something you don't usually see in Sept/Oct in the Sierras
I have and have had quite a few Nikon cameras and the Fuji X Pro, XT, and X100, in just about all the generations. Nikon, Zeiss, Sigma, glass. Mostly all primes.
Sorry, but never again for me are mirrorless and/or crop cameras. I will leave that here.
The DF is my favorite camera, after the F6. The issues with the current DF, for me, are minor: the drive mode switch on the top is too easily moved when tuning the camera on; you can't format the card without using the menu, the battery/card cover is a bit flimsy, but my half case protects it quite well.
The DF, for me is the best all around, go-to, travel camera. Pair it with either the Zeiss 28/2 or 35/2, the Nikon 50/1.2, and the 105/2.5, and you are ready. (Note: would like a smaller 85mm than my Zeiss and Nikon 1.4 models, but don't know of any. Hence the 105.)
For film I just replace the DF with an FM3A. Or take both!

Disclaimer: I am not volunteering!
Bummer, I thought you were volunteering.
Barbara is doing most of it herself at the moment. Our daughters and their husbands are also helping some. We have downsized somewhat until I can get back at it, hopefully in May.
Thanks Leighton! I've not yet eated it, had to put it in the freezer. It sure is a delicacy. If I could beam some over I would I will probably put it in aluminium foil and bake it in the oven with some salt, butter and herbs..
Got some really strong pills for the pain (a bit too strong for me perhaps...) leighton w wrote:
