A few more hummingbird photos - the weather has improved, and I finally had enough light to get a few shots of our resident male Anna's, who likes to hang out under lots of cover.
Ophrys phrygia is a restricted range bee-orchid from southwest Anatolia. Like all bee-orchids, it mimics potential pollinators' outfit for propagation of its own reproduction material to suitable candidates. Under threat of extinction due to habitat loss and unsustainable harvest of its tubers for culinary use.
Ophrys amanensis subsp. antalyensis is another restricted range bee-orchid from Mediterranean coastline of Anatolia. Like many bee-orchids, its lip is customized for attracting a dedicated set of pollinators. With a handful of records, it is just another narrow range endemic calling and unfortunately missing meaningful protection. Equipment set was purely of Olympus origin: T10 Ring Flash attached to Zuiko 60mm f/2.8 on EM-5 mk I.
