I don't have any big guns anymore, but my wife was holding my binoculars so I grabbed the 40-150 just for giggles and shot this handheld at f/2.8, ISO 6400 and 1/8. There are countless better images of the lunar eclipse, I'm just really impressed by the IBIS.

If the PL 100-400 came out before the Oly 300 PRO I would have gotten the PL 100-400 instead. I have the 300 PRO and it's a great lens and my 1.4x TC is practically stuck to it. I am really curious about the new 150-400/4 zoom lens with the built-in 1.25x TC.
How come you would have gotten the 100-400 instead Bobby? Zoom? Size?
I am still on the edge about these two and the new 150-400. I've got my aim on the 300 mostly because of the PL 100-400 less than stellar performance at 400mm.
What I meant was that I would have gotten whichever lens came out first ... as I needed a good long lens, period. The 300 PRO is an amazing lens, but having to switch back-and-forth between my 300 PRO and 40-150 PRO was a real PITA. I just got back from Bosque del Apache and having to change lenses in sub-freezing temps with gloves is not only not fun ... but it causes you to miss a lot of shots. Different story if you have 2 bodies so you can avoid having to change lenses, but if you are shooting with only 1 body, a high quality fast zoom lens is godsent.

Thanks for the clarification! Yes indeed a very good zoom can more than make up for some lost image quality compared to a prime. We'll see about the 150-400
