I'm awaiting mine. Lack of RAW support is a bummer, but hopefully it's here soon. It's funny to me that the latest LR release (3.2) supports the 60D but not the actually-available S95.
Canon's S series are great cameras. I still have my s50 (shoots RAW) and have used a friend's s70 (?) with very good results. It's great for travel; I sold several images from these cameras.
I will buy the s95. The only thing it lacks, for me, is an optical or simple peek-style viewfinder vs the gawk-at-the-back lcd viewer.
Yes, I shoot full-frame, so I know about IQ. and certainly do not compare P&S IQ to DSLR IQ.
Give it 2 or so years and who knows?
I think you'll be waiting quite awhile if you want a DSLR quality P&S. The closest right now is the Sony NEX series and that's still nowhere close to being a P&S in size.

I'd rather not have to compromise the IQ, so I'm still hunting for the perfect P&S camera. The S90 is very good indeed at low ISO but dslr quality it isn't.
The S95 doesn't offer better IQ so I won't be upgrading (video holds no interest for me)
I'm sure there is a gap in the market for a dslr quality P&S.
I had an s90 for three weeks, great iq but pita to use. The 95 is very compelling to me personally, as the lx5 really isn't pocketable (in Arizona with no jackets). They look to have fixed a lot of the crappy design qualities of the 90, which were my main complaint. Of course I'd love a pocketable 7d or ff, but without breaking the bank, there's nothing (leica x1 is the closest but no zoom, although iq is great). The x1 is also a bit large to fitthe pocket category comparably.
I'm with Petkal, The LX5 is an awsum P&S, and anyone who complains just hasen't compared it to any other camera in actual use by themselfs. My LX3 did a great job and is retired to the backup shelf. For anything under 12X8 I now grab the LX5 instead of my 1DSIII. The LX5 also produces decent pano landscapes, although not comparable to the 1DSIII. I admit I shoot very few low light images, and if party images don't come out great, "who cares" they are passable. My friend has the S90 and its IQ is probably 85% of the LX3. Canon has the capability to wipe the market but seems to be satisfied to just stay with the herd in the P&S market.
I need to post some pics from my s95. Love the little pocket camera that packs a punch. Recently at a basketball game where we were sitting up top far away from the action, I held the s95 behind a pair of Nikon binoculars and shot through it - the clarity is wonderful even handheld through a bino. Need to download and post it. I take it with me every day, almost everywhere when I go out.
