Received mine today and was lucky? enough to find a dead cicada on the patio to serve as a subject. Brought it inside and posed it on a philodendron. Straight out: I'm a believer. Think this thing has potential. Will take some practice but worth it, IMO. Biggest problem I have is poor eyesight which translates to problems focusing.

#1 No way to get a full profile--and then some--of a 50mm subject with the MP-E...until now http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4094/4891314241_84066cc44f_o.jpg

#2 http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4118/4891911916_e059defb1d_o.jpg

#3 This is around 3X on the lens with the TC http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4123/4891912068_e52dc9c241_o.jpg

#4 A comparison shot taken with a Nikkor 105mm lens w/tube http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4073/4891314041_75f746fbb3_o.jpg

Unless you're pixel peeping, the images are comparable. Think I'll keep mine.

Kenny

ps I gotta learn to lay off Shadows and Highlights.

OK, I give up. How do you attach the Telemore 95-II to the MP-E65?

Tom, Kenny, someone?

Looking good Kenny .
Still think there is something odd about the DOF (too large) which does make focusing more difficult as you don't seem to get a sharp differential.
Corvus - think somepeople have managed to come up with filter connectors and adapters to screw the telemore on properly. I just use a tube made out of camping mat and duct tape which grips the telemore tightly but slides over the extended barrel of the MPE-65 until it butts up to the front of the mpe. Depending on the telemore you may have to remove any mechanical aperture levers first.

Thanks all, appreciate the comments.

Ron, I went ahead and purchased a 58-49 stepdown and a reverse adapter Pentax Universal to 49mm to mount mine. Looks like this when mounted:

I am in the market for a Telemore, but have some questions. From what I understand so far it is made to fit between the camera body and a lens, but is being used in this application by placing it at the working end of a lens already mounted on the camera.

If this is the case it would seem the best option would be to buy a M42 mount Telemore so you could simply use a step ring instead of getting a different camera mount that would require both an adapter and a step ring.

Of course I could be completely wrong about this, so can you smart guys straighten me out.

I have one more question as well. What kinda body are you guys shooting with. I have noticed a marked improvement in my pix when I am able to use live view on a tripod for critical focus. Has anyone tried focusing using live view with a Telemore?

The Telemore I use is the M42 mount. If I could've found the Pentax universal mount that fit directly on the MP-E filter threads, I would've.

Can't speak to that, as I use an old 20D...no LiveView. Actually, don't use a tripod either, but can see where it would help.
