Beautiful!

The crest of the summit is the view out my office window just north of you.

Let me share some pictures showing the Leitax (Contax to E-mount) rear conversion with a tripod collar designed for the Canon 70-200/4L lens.

The tripod collar is made by Vello. (Black color)

Everything works so well and now my VS 100-300 is rock-solid and I highly recommend this set-up. The Contax to E-mount Leitax conversion is very easy to set-up and it's also very light comparing to using a regular adapter.

Here is a link to the Leitax converter:

PS: Sorry, iPhone images.

^^ nice

I sometimes use a lens collar ring and sometimes just use an adapter to connect it to my Metabones setup.

this is from yesterday morning:

Yeah that's a favor hike. I've never done it in the winter though, don't have the gear--yet.

I think the winter hike makes you appreciate being able to just drive up the road in the summer. It s a neat place to hike and camp because you feel like you are out there but you still have cell coverage.

Baker towards sunset...

For CY 100-300 owners, did you guys have a hard time focusing this lens? Even with focus magnify I found it very difficult to hit focus, esp. in bad light and stopped down WO. I loved the results though.

no but I dont think the adapter has much to do with how this MF lens focuses.

This lens is on my list as my go to tele for landscape work. I've almost caved and picked up the canon 70-200 f4, and still might, as I like the thought of being able to auto focus with metabones and the rarity of these lenses outside of eBay in Japan. But this lens really does look like a stunner.

It is the versatility, compactness and lightness of a landscape kit that can include a lens like the 100-300 (or the 70-200 for that matter) that has stayed my hand when the detail hungry part of myself wants to leave my sony a7RII for a the Fuji GFX 50s.

I had the 100-300 twice, and I now own the 70-200 F4 IS. I much prefer the rendering, images and extra reach of the CY 1-300. You just have to deal with focusing it, which is an absolute pain.

@mike reid I meant holding the lens (as it's heavier than the body) and letting the AF find focus, rather than trying to MF it. It can be done with some success--just need to prefocus it.

That's a bummer about your experience focusing it. Have others found that to be a major downside of this lens as well?
