1. A shield bug nymph [I]Pycanum rubens[/I] sucking sap from aSimpoh Air host plant (Dillenia suffruticosa) I have always thought that it can only moves its proboscis up, down, frontward, backward, i.e. all within the same plane, but obviously i was wrong. It can move its proboscis sideway too as evident in this pic.

the nymphs are a very unusaul colour I wpuld have thought that being bright pink that they would be easy prey to birds
