Quick question, I have pretty severe yellow cast. How should i fix? foil it up and stick it outside?
Foil and angled toward the sun on a windowsill should do it, then you don't have to worry about rain.
Yes, I have to agree...the 85 1.2 shots are really nice. My copy isn't too great at 1.2...but really shines at f2-f4. I have used it a little at f16 to try some landscapes, but I don't know if it's dust on my sensor or in the lens that creates little spots all over the shots!!
I really want it to be good at 1.2, so I can get rid of my 50L...I wonder if Jim Buchanan can help me with that, or maybe it's just the lens?? Plus, the mount is a tad loose to my camera, which might also contribute to the softness wide open??

it's not the sharpest lens wide open, though it appears to be better at infinity and long distances than up close in that regard. on FF cameras it seems to be sharp enough, but crop sensors it show off its softness a bit more. sharpness isn't everything though. of the 4 f/1.2 lenses i've shot with the rokkor 58/1.2 is the least sharp and also my favorite.
regarding the spots - it's probably dust on the sensor if you see spots in the sky or uniformly colored sections of the photo. if you see dark shapes within the oof highlights that is a sign o large bits of dust (or fungus or whatever) inside the lens. heavy amounts of fine dust won't necessarily show up this way but could still reduce general sharpness. if you can see a fair bit of dust in the lens it probably wouldn't hurt to have it CLA'd.
Thank you Sebboh.
I am currently comparing it to my 50L. And I have to admit...it does more than a fair job of, if not keeping up with, but in some regards, outshining my 50L. So far....
What I do like about it, is, that it's not a brick!! The 50L isn't too bad(weight wise), but nothing compared to the Rokkor, or even the CY 50 1.4 I just got! And on a 1 series, with the CY 50 on, I can't even feel it; with the Rokkor, just barely, and with the 50L, definitely!!
As far as the dust is concerned...I am pretty sure it's my sensor....
Thanks again,
Gregg
there are different possibilities to change the mount. i have used for 58 1.2, 50 1.2, 85 1.7 always a leicaR-EOS adapter and simply removed the old bajonett and displaced it with the adapter. (holes made with a "dremel"). It is reversible !!
The beauty on 58 1.2 and 50 1.2 is, that the aperture mechanism is not affected by this change, but for the 85mm 1.7 the aperture mechanics is fixed on the bajonett. accordingly, you need to find a way to adjust the aperture. i did this with a simple metal spring, ...
this is difficult to tell, just see, the pictures are taken with 50mm 1.2 at f=4:
