Ron and Phil, thank you, and for the likes
Leonas, nice series!
Edward, wow... congratulations!!! Looking forward to your many shots over the next few days
Ron, great set! I really both the portrait and landscape, but if I were to place on a wall I would opt for the landscape.
Phil, just love the B&W portrait!
jojomon great b&w images love the tonality
uhoh - really like your snow images wish I was there, I think you could PP to increase the highlights in the snow a bit more though
AshNZ that car looks amazing really like the sharpness and colour you are getting with the M8
airfrogusmc great b&w great composition
Ron the b&w snow images are fantastic

Ron, great b&w photos. We didn't have the energy today to threaten Canada so it was never really exciting in my opinion. Still a very good winter Olympics for us with a new record in number of won medals so I am anyway.
Thanks very much! I woke up at 6:55 and set up the web feed for my GF, who is not a sports fan but for some reason wanted to watch USA vs. Canada and also the gold medal game. While dozing off again (I'm not a morning person), I heard the commentators mention the Swedish players not playing due to injury and it registered in my groggy mind as not very hopeful/promising.
Phil - M9 again? Looks good and IMO this is where the Sonnar really shines - people photos. Love the rendering, especially in the B&W portrait. The abstract is cool too!
Nico - thanks! Love the colours again! The CV21/4 is probably compelling because of its very compact size and low price, but my feeling about many of the CV lenses is that they're on the smoother, lower contrast side vs. the higher micro contrast of the ZM and some Leica lenses. I can live with smoother and lower contrast with mid and longer focal lengths but find for wide angle glass that it leaves me craving the fine detail pop. This is where the SEM is quite impressive. Great micro contrast/detail with rich colours but also not quite as bold as some Zeiss glass. It's a nice balance.
Allen - love that winter light 'portrait!'
Brian - Leaning towards the B&W rendering. Looks like an interesting location that I could spend a lot of time exploring.
Edward - Thanks! Now that you mention it, yeah, I guess the filter is blocking the lettering...
A couple questions for you guys:
I'm finding I'm using the EVF a lot more than expected on the M240, at least for walk around stuff. But it means I can't use the Thumbs Up, which I really, really like for the better hold of the camera. Has anyone bought or tried the Leica M grip (either version)? Anyone tried the finger loops? Would appreciate your thoughts (I should check on LUF too, but value the feedback here). The only thing I can think of that I don't like about the Leica grip options (other than price) is that for the few times I'll want to use it on a tripod, I'll still have to put a plate on it, so was thinking of the Really Right Stuff replacement baseplate instead... but it seems the grip part is the same as the M9 version and I found it a bit too wide/fat for my liking. Anyway, opinions on that one would be appreciated too.
Edward: welcome back!!
Ron: really nice B&Ws and i like that first pre melt shot last post 28 cron looks fine on the M240.
Charles: beautiful work with the textures and trees.
jojomon: nice abstract
and many other nice shots up there
today it was all CV, the 21/4 35/2.5 and 90/3.5 L1004761 by unoh7, on Flickr
Nico, great colors! Very nice set
Allen, excellent composition! I really like how you use true black in your images.
Charlie, thank you Great stuff, and love the your selection of easy travel lenses.
Ron, very nice with the 28 Cron! I have the EVF on the M240, most of the time, or at least very close by. About a year ago, I stopped using the thumbs up, as I had two on the M9 and M9P. Every time I would place them a carry bag, they would get caught up, and would not travel well. Then, I changed my technique of holding the M9's, with the original Leica strap, with one wrap around the wrist and it works. Simple, light with no issues. This works well with the 50 Nocti f/1.0 and 75 Lux too
Edward, Congratulation! look forward for your images
Phil, Congratulation to you too! welcome back to team M9 Very nice portrait and I enjoy your MM image as well.
Charles, Like that BW pole image.
leonasj, the first portrait has real nice POP and true to life.
Ron, Really like the BW set, Your PP on trees under snow is very tasteful and I especially like Audi shot. And your 1st color image in this pg is just great. I like the frame with random things but at the same time having nice balance.
Nico, superb color on those flower!
Allen, the shadow make the image very interesting.
Brain, the color one has film look to it.
Charlie, You are so lucky have such wonderful scenery around you! Love those snow mountain shots.
Here are some more 50lux shots from Suzhou, mostly f4~f5.6. Weather is not good but I much prefer this to boring full sun
Awesome shots everyone. Difficult to keep pace with the thread.
Michael, I love the 3 shots with the 50lux. Amazing detail and contrast. I agree with you that I find cloudy days to be better than the bright, sunny ones.
Ron, I love the shots I'm seeing with the 21 SEM from you and Gary. I also liked the way you composed the street scene with the puddle in the foreground.
Charlie, nice shots of the snowy locations.
Nico, lovely color work and amazing shots. I loved the second one with the subtle purples. beautiful.
Edward, thought we'd miss seeing your photos from Thailand but glad to see you couldn't stay away from the M.
Charles, Loved the first one. I love the way you process the BWs
Allen, as usual great sense of composition with the shadows
rirakuma, nice shots, but love the last one. Not only great contrasting colors but also the contrast of the people clad in red and the person the in the foreground.
Lots of images with snow. Next few months will be difficult for me outdoors (based on what Michael mentioned) too much sun. Its going to be hot. Envy the snowy locations. I was in Buffalo for about a year, so it had more than its share of snow.
Few shots with the hex 35. Quick edits before posting.
Manoj - I couldn't imagine enduring that kind of summer weather. Air conditioning is hopefully abundantly available for you. Really nice tonality and rendering from the Hex, particularly the second. Maybe there is something to its current market value?
Rocky - an interesting set! I'm curious about the lens you used for #2?
Allen - excellent!
Charles - again, love the texture and the Cron's tonality is so enjoyable. Thanks also for your comments about Thumbs Up, etc. I currently use Domke straps and my tendency with the M9 on the street was to wrap the strap around my wrist a couple times so that if I let go of the camera (intentionally or not), it would just hang from my wrist. This has been useful for the times I needed both hands for something. That said, I always used a Thumbs Up simply because it felt better to me to have someplace secure for my thumb to rest. The mini thumb grip built into the M240 is acceptable, but doesn't feel as good to me and I'd still like a better hold of the camera. Too bad there doesn't seem to be an M240 version of the Thumbie...
Michael - cool perspective and interesting to see what appears to be Chinese suburbia in the background. It looks very uniform and orderly from above.
Charlie - looks to be a very capable and compact set.
And more trees from me... this time a bit of green:
M240 and all with 90 Summarit, all wide open. Having the live view and EVF option was handy for the first one in order to carefully manipulate the intensity of the flare.
Still inviting comments on the Leica M grip for the M240... Have you tried it and what did you think?
Thank you Joakim, Phil, Ocean, Charles, Charlie, Zhangyue, Manoj! I didn't have the opportunity to use the new M yet. It's still at file 0020 or so Hopefully soon.
Phil, lovely images on page 906, but I really like the 2nd portrait of the little girl.
Nico, awesome flower images. Great colors and not too saturated.
Allen, perfect composition and light in b/w in the king statue. The above window reflections shot is simply amazing.
Zhangyue, first shot of the temple is really great. Love the non conventional processing
Charles, the M seems to be very capable in b/w too. The first shot is my favorite.
Ron, love the newspaper in the snow shot, and in the above set, the flary first shot is amazing.
Charlie, I'm glad to see you're enjoying the M9 so much Very nice photos!
Rirakuma, lovely vibrant colors and nice portraits.
