Really nice shots Rob The ZM 50 Planar is one of my favourite lenses. I love the work that Tim Barker does with the 50 Planar and his M8 with portraiture shots.
A Murse. Seriously?
If I had to wear a sling bag, I'd just use my lowepro and my 5DII ZE setup.
A murse, or manbag as you call it, isn't winning on anyones shoulder
Sebboh: I'm not a masochist - wild life = AF for me Regarding Zeiss+AF, I should have clarified that I was talking about the ZE lenses.
Excellent portraits Rob!
Adam & Edward: I just got a Domke F-803 bag and it borders on being a man purse. The rugged look kind of counteracts that but not entirely. It's a bit too small for it to be acceptable as a messenger bag. Had it been neat and in leather you would have been certain that it was a purse. The thing is that for an M9 + 3-4 lenses you don't really need anything larger.
There is a myth popular among Americans that European men use man purses, but although it's not unheard of, it's not really mainstream either.

I also really think that when you dislike your natural surroundings, it hurts motivation. I don't see anything around me that I enjoy visually, compared to when I lived in NYC for 6 years..and that shows in my bland attempts. The desert has been done to death..sunrise and a cactus is trite.,,and I don't fancy a walk through to try and capture rattlesnakes, scorpions, and the like.
Yes, inspiring surroundings matter. I'd personally love some desert as I'm getting tired of shooting in Stockholm. I'm starting to feel that I've photographed each duck in the city at least twice
No, but on the whole Stockholm is OK. We have no mountains, which sucks but we've got some nice nature and a lot of water. That's half the year anyway. The other half it's just deep frozen. Snow and ice and darkness. You could not find a worse place for photography during that time.
The downside of ditching the x1 is that I don't get to continue to participate in wonderful threads such as this. Maybe I'll get an inexpensive (cough) leica lens and mate it to the gf1.
If you get a Zeiss lens you can participate in the awesome Zeiss thread.
I'm not sure what to do with all my NZ shots WRT the forums, should I make a separate thread? Or feed them into this one over the course of time... There are about 100 images.
Hey Dan, I personally would love to see them, in this thread, but this is only my opinion Of course having a separate thread will allow people to look at your work more freely and give you broader feedback.
My man bag comment was meant as humor I really was thinking of a camera bag. I know murses aren't that common in Europe, I'm European I just don't live there anymore and computers correct my proper spellings of words like colour. Hah.
If you don't mind a slightly larger bag, a messenger bag like a medium Timbuk2 bag makes a great camera bag that can be used for other things. Buy an insert like this and you can easily and safely store two M's, a bunch of lenses, accessories, and other crap like a notebook. I also have a very small lowepro bag for when I just take out my M with no other lenses. If I'm on less of a photography trip, I pull out the padded insert, and put the small lowepro bag into the messenger with a couple changes of clothing. I fly all the time with this setup - it easily fits under the seat.

Dan: Do both. Pick out 20-30 images and make a separate thread. Post the rest here over time.
Dan, agree with Luka, post a limited series on a separate thread or your blog and post the rest of them on this thread over time to keep our appetite hungry

All jokes aside, I wasn't looking for a bag, I hate holding things. I'm just going to fill my wardrobe with cargo pants. I'm being honest here, that's kinda what I love about the M system.. Today I left the house with 28 on camera, 50 and 90 in left and right front pockets, wallet in back right pocket along with phone in back left and the keys I stuck in the front pocket but in that small mini pocket on the right side of the jeans. It worked out really well for me, and when I went to the camera shop to look at little bags, the shop guys were laughing at me as I pulled out each Leica lens to test bag sizes (you know those little lowepro clip to the belt type lens-bags).
Well anyway, I do have a lot of bags for my canon gear, and one of the bags is small enough to put M gear into if needed. So I'm kinda set.
Hahah, for me yes... Not to start another discussion, but if I could get over how a vest looks, I think that would be the best bet for an M system. All the lenses up top, with a few pockets for batteries and cards, plus the camera.. WOW
Indeed sebboh and a good thing or we'd be bored stiff by everyone doing the same kind of photos
Anyway, I got three good things today:
1) Diopter -0.5. The difference is slight but I do see better.
2) Thumbs Up - awesome. Really improves the ergonomics of the camera. The finish is superb and exactly matches the gray paint of the camera.
3) M-Coder - awesome. I've coded my lenses now. No more forgetting to manually change settings and the subsequently weird results and messed up metadata.
