A new 35 lux finally for my M9. I showed a different version of this shot elsewhere, a little closer and darker, but thought I'd get a take on this one here, a little brighter shot.
Rich looking color Zhang, and a nice composition. That is a fine 35 cron 1 image. Hard to believe that was the first version. My (shameless plug) (version 3 cron ASPH) is for sale in the buy sale a area. Or I may keep it, we'll see... Right now, used sales seems slow.
Hey guys, sorry for disappearing for a while. Great stuff the last few pages, as always!
Michael - great one of your kids - their expressions, the rendering...
Edward, interesting sets and really like the one of the taxi driver.
Ryan, also a great set!
Sorry to also read a couple here are sending their new Ms back for the strap lug fix...
I've been taking some day trips around the area when time permits, and lately have been heading over to the north shore of Lake Erie. As I think I've said in the past, it's amazing how much there is to see in one's own 'backyard' when making the effort to get out and actually explore.
We ended up in Fort Erie yesterday, across the Niagara River from Buffalo, NY... so I'll start off with some photos of the actual fort itself. We arrived just before sunset and after they'd closed, but there was still enough to climb around on and explore:
I didn't get out tp shoot a thing today, to busy with visiting my Mom after work and weedeating the yard. But the new Lux is calling my name, for sure.
Thanks Edward. I really did as well, I tend to like a richer look with a bit more blacks, it probably was in post more than anything...

Two more shots with the ZM 50/2:
cool shots Edward.
legit question, between the 50/2 and the 35/2 which would be your desert island lens if every subject magically worked itself out so focal length didnt make a difference?
since you are on RFF too I suppose you may have noticed I chose the planar myself.
One from today with the 35FLE @ f1.4 .. I dialed down exposure (to remove blown highlights) in added vignetting in RAW editing using Photo Ninja to enhance the lighting on the subject's face.
Gary, Ron, redisburning, thank you very much for the comments.
Ron, Great set! All shots are fantastic.
Dale, nice portraits as usual. I like the 1st one the most.
Redisburning, that is a very tricky question I personally could live without a 50 but life would be unbearable without a 35 so subjectively I would choose the 35 regardless of technical considerations. Nevertheless, from the optical point of view, I think both lenses are excellent. The 35 is sharper in the center, the 50 is sharper in the corners. The 35 has no distortion, but there is some spherical aberration wide open that causes a very slight focus shift and veiling haze, and the bokeh wide open is not always good, even though it can also be spectacular depending on the situation. The 50 produces invariably nice bokeh, and may have a tad more contrast, but I feel the 35 produces more 3D pop. So I would say the 50 may have a very slight edge optically.
