Thanks Luka, Joakim, Doug & Ryan. Glad some of you liked the pigeon
Ryan, excellent shots with the ZM18. I also like the last detail shot with the 35Cron. That one is really beautiful with all the details.
Charles, Very nice captures with the 50Lux. did you ask the man in #1 to salute or was he trying to sell you something?

I agree with Joakim, shooting street with the 90FL seems detached to me, and I feel like I'm spying on someone with a periscope, I think 28FL or 35FL seems to suit me better. I'll probably be on the lookout for a 28Cron sometime in the future. Luka, Doug and Charles make me want to get a 90CronV3 as well for other type of shots. Beautiful lens and rendering and a bargain compared to the 90CronAA.
Here's another B&W shot for Doug with the 90 Tele-E. This shot gives an impression of of a 35 or 50FL.
But I still prefer a wider lens for what I shoot. SEP2 B&W of a shot posted earlier. 35Lux ASPH.
Charles - thanks for the comparisons of the Leica 90's. I was hoping you'd say the Cron 90 III was the one with the similar rendering to the 35 Lux ASPH II. Alas, you had to pick the most expensive one. And even brought up a more expensive option with the 75 lux! You and Luka should get commissions from Leica!
BTW, I like the third 50 Lux shot the most. The right side of his face shows a smile, but the other side shows a "why are you taking a photo of me??" look.
rsolti - great shots with the ZM 18 and the 35 cron! I'm not really into B&W, but that last ZM18 shot just exudes emotion!
joe - nice shots and conversions! You make me want to buy SEP2 when I am not even into B&W's!

anybody seen a lux 50? not talking $bay robbery, talking straight pricing? used? PM me please if so, don't post it, lol.
Haha. The first 50 Lux ASPH I see new or used I'm grabbing for myself. The 90 Cron III is excellent but way too long for some things and my Zeiss 50/1.5 Sonnar doesn't cut it. Nice lens for classic/vintage portraits wide open, but not particularly good stopped down. The 50/2 Planar could of course be a solution, but I'm really set on the Lux.
There is going to be run on the second hand markets for the 35/50 Lux and 90 Cron Apo. It can be hard to find lenses, but they do come up quite often. The only new lens I purchased was the 35 Lux II, the rest I hunted and bargained, not that I could and then sent them down to Camera Clinic to be checked and calibrated.
Luka, I have 4 Zeiss lenses left for Nikon, I really love Zeiss quality. That said, I got Leica for Leica, and for that reason, my plan is Leica glass. I don't plan to have that many lenses, that is the purpose of Rangefinder to me, keep it simple and compact. Of course, the prices have a way of doing that too, cough... But I think the 50mm is a great focal length to encourage creamy bokey for somewhat close subjects, whether people or object. The 35 I have for deadly accurate focus if I need that, and 15mm is not that much different focal length, so I think the 50 lux fits my plan. love to have a 90 apo cron, but this V3 is quite nice, and the reality is, my money is likely better spent on the lux.
Doug, you might as well get on the wait list with some of the reputable dealers for the 50Lux. Used ones come up rarely and are not much cheaper because of the demand. Good luck with your search.
thanks Joe, yeah, I'm not sure I am ready to act just yet. I think I need to finish some dues paying first. I'm in position, then breath a little bit first.
Charles, that first portrait is a keeper! Ryan, I like #3 & 4. Joe, I like the look you captured in that first shot. Have you experimented with cropping on the right at all? The dark doorway is a little distracting my eye.
Thank you all for your input on the 90's. It's interesting to receive more recommendations for a 75, as friend keeps telling me how much more he uses that length than his 90- it sounds like mostly for ease of use with the RF.
I've taken all your recommendations and picked up a 75 Lux that a local shop had...the 90 I called about yesterday was gone. There doesn't seem to be any risk in trying this stuff even if I decide I don't like it (ha!), considering how it appreciates. Here are a few shots with it. While I find myself lacking a vibrant Swedish construction site, or ducks, perhaps next week I'll hop on a plane to the Caribbean for the rest of forever.
