Gotcha, I misunderstood that, they hope to have all backorders filled by end of Nov then? I guess that means anytime between now and end of Nov? Seems like every time I ask it's the same answer, 4-6 weeks...shouldn't that go down at some point?

I searched and searched, but perhaps I missed it...
How does the front diffuser attach to the silver PLM V2? How is the fit and ease of setup/removal? Any personal reviews?
It fits over and around the edge of the umbrella like an elastic shower cap. There may or may not be a concern about the metal tips of the umbrella spars wearing through it.

Use the baffle regularly, RD, and it's just a matter of time:
Dave, do you have a photo of that panned out? It's a little out of context for my noggin. Have you thought about sewing a little piece of leather over it? Also, what happens if a hole is punched in it, do you think a noticeable amount of light will spill out?

It's eventually going to dry rot in just a matter of time. The spar tips are not going to wind up in exactly the same spot every time you put the cover on the umbrella. I don't have my cover yet, so I can't evaluate how rugged the material is from suffering a more immediate tear rather than eventual wear.
Based on the image Dave provided, I only see the ribs poking a hole through the cover if the PLM falls to the ground. But then again, that's true for many modifiers. Hehe.

Hi Paul - Is that spot in the photo around the edges?
The spot is the end of the rib contacting the diffuser fabric, The rib tip is flat and smooth and one would be hard pressed to drive it through the fabric with a hammer.
The PLM outer diffuser fabric is fairly thick so I don't expect to see an epidemic of rib tips poking through the material. However, the amount of pressure exerted on the contact point is wholly dependent upon how tightly the "shower cap" is wrapped around the perimeter of the PLM so the potential for perforation certainly exists. Note too that the rib tips are flat and do not have radiused edges:
The shower cap approach is perfectly fine and, at the price, there's no grounds for complaint. However, that said, I would have preferred if grommets were used to secure the diffuser to the PLM.

Slower to attach when you have to line up tips and grommets. Working on location as I usually am, I prefer this speedier, less finicky approach.
That would only help if you lined up the ribs' tips with each of the caps each time you put the diffuser on.
Eh? If the rubber/plastic ends are on the rib tips and the cover is being stretched over the top like a shower cap, there is nothing that has to be lined up or matched. Putting rubber/plastic cap ends is not a bad idea, although it might cost a bit. In fact, Robert is indeed your mother's brother:
This is bordering fanaticism. The diffusers work . . . just use them. What posters don't realize here is that umbrellas have to be made in China to be at all cost effective. They are made by hand and the tolerance achievable is on the order of one inch diameter at best. We tried grommets on V1 and the result was not good because it is impossible to line up the grommets with the umbrella tips due to tolerance errors.
I really suggest people actually use the diffusers before they all start armchair-redesigning them. People that use them have reported zero problems . . . . they work fine, and self adjust to tolerances and don't poke through the fabric and aren't likely to in service . . . the pressure required to cause this just isn't there. Why not move on to something constructive. Or if someone has a better method, go build it . . . . it's a free market.
