It's been a few months already that I bought this OLY zoom on ebay. It was just part of a bigger OLY system and I was not after this zoom, it just came as a by-product.
The 85-250mm f/5 is a fairly compact tele zoom. At wide open performance is not really that exciting, but stopped down a bit does give pretty good results. OLY colors are great, too.
Lovely shots guys. I never got to play with any Zuiko lenses when I shot with an SLR, but the 100/2 ED has me curious. Anyone own that lens? Able to share a couple of shots and maybe comment on overall sharpness and CA?
Sure, I enjoyed looking at these images. I like the first one a lot, but also the others. I actually bought this lens about 2 years ago as part of a whole OM system- and sold it, without even trying it . Now I know it was a mistake. But they are still available on e b a y . Just wait for another opportunity.
I'm about to sell mine. I'll put it in the buy/sell here on FM fairly soon.
I like the FD 300/4L just a tad better. Though of course it's like 3 times the price. My Oly - minty with caps, collar, and hard case goes for like $350 to $400 I think (I have to look it up again). The FD 4.0L is like $900+ or something. Sharpness wise they're both in the same league (which is seriously impressive!) but the Oly can display some CA if you shoot blown highlights. The FD much less so! The Oly is a tad more colorful. I sure like the feel and look of the Oly though - it's downright handsome! Damn, I'm such a nerd!

I had the Zuiko 100/2 and the 90/2 macro. After much testing I preferred the 90/2 macro - mainly because I tend to use that focal length close up, where the 90/2 is a better performer. The 100/2 is better towards infinity. For portrait and macro the 90/2 is superb.
