I have used the "Hide Me" button on him for now, so they don't get loaded. I will change that once he removes the shots. You could also rename the files, and update the other post to reflect the new names.

That would actually be very easy, using one of the UV filters Leica/B+W made (or at least the frame). Then you'd need an e60 to e67 step-up ring, which aren't impossible to find, but if he's got a better way, let us know, please.
As suggested by robsteve (https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/746941/0&year=2009#68023290 -#14) I ordered a Generic Cokin 77 P adapter ring that just arrived. I lined it with Gaffers tape and it now fits snugly around the hood of my "new" Leica 35-70mm f4 Vario Elmar lens. I may remove a little of the tape but I will have see if that is necessary. I do not believe that this should cause any vignetting on a FF camera.
I just put in a bid in on a Leica 280mm f4 Apo Telyt lens. I hope that the offer is accepted and that there are/will be no issues in the sale, shipping, and performance of the lens.

Wow, good luck with that! Let us know the price and condition if you get it.
Hi Carsten,
The lens is supposed to be in mint condition. Asking price was price was $5250. Both my offer of $4500 and another offer were just turned down.
The last 3 sales of the 280mm f4 Apo lens on ebay were for $3910, $4,000,and $5,000 through auction & Buy it Now by Camera stores & Private sale. The $3910 was auction through National Camera Exchange, the $5,000 was through Buy it Now through Ninedays Photography, and the $4,000 was a private sale through Buy it Now.
I a not sure if I should increase my offer to match his counter.

I shot mine that way for a few years. I later got the 35-70mm f2.8 and just used either the 77mm polarizer or the Cokin P series 77mm ring.

Rob,
Thanks for the info. I think that I will keep the 35-70mm f4 lens. Especially since I did just win the 280mm f4 Apo Telyt lens for $4700. I am going to have to recover a bit from this last purchase, but with the new M coming I know that this lens in particular and other R lenses may run through the roof for cost. Especially since I anticipate getting the FujiFilm X-E1 for at least the time being to use with my system. The new M that will be a big question for the future.

All the Leica APO or ASPH R glass is going to go way up in price once the new M comes out. Unless you get lucky, you will probably only be able to get the 280mm F4 in the high range of the price range.
You also have to be careful when buying these APO or ASPH lenses, as any service work means a long trip to Solms.

You got it for a good price. I was looking on Ebay to find it and it is not there, but probably in limbo between competed and active auctions. I was going to check on it as there has been one floating around with problems.
My 35-70mm went of to LA last week for a film maker to use on a RED camera. That lens was driven up in price by the RED users, rather than any new M.

Hi Rob,
I know this can't be kept a secret because an advanced search for the lens will bring it up soon. The link is below:
The photos seem to show tape over the Leica red dots but the seller indicated that everything is OK which I take to mean that he just put tape over the Leica red dots possibly to hide what the lens is.
Anyway, I hope to have the lens according to ebay between December 7 and December 14.
I already have an Arca Swiss Type QR plate that I had ordered for the Leica 350mm f4.8 lens that was cancelled. Both lenses take the same RRS plate.
I will probably order this Heliopan UV filter as a front element protector:

The Leica R 280/4 APO Telyt serial number 3658904 which is a 3 Cam 11261 does not carry or should I say is not supposed to carry the Leica logo on both sides.
- In fact, the lens as shown in your link does not show the E77 engraving in white which should be on the right of the serial number.
- The later released lenses have also a screw on the top right of the last digit of the serial number.
- The screws holding the mount have flat and mat heads in later released lenses.
- The early 11261 did not have the internal thread to screw in the E77 filters. Please advise when you receive the lens.
As to why this lens has black tape where the Leica logo is supposed to be. I don't know. But I know it is not suppose to!
Maybe it has the Leica logo without the E77 white engraving?
For the small history of the lens, I am curious to know as soon as you receive your lens.
Also, make sure that the filter drawer carries the NDx1 filter.
At any rate, this does not affect whatsoever the lens itself as all releases namely 11261 - 11263 and 11360 have the same optical formula.

Thanks for the additional information. So, the lens may not have any internal threading for a 77mm filter? According to the link below, the lens was made in 1994 as the second batch of 500:
When asked about the ND drop in filter and the logos (and tape), the response was that everything is 100%.
If there is no 77mm threading then I will not be able to add a screw in protective filter and will have to be quite careful of the front element. If there is not threading then I may not be able to use my Cokin P filter system with the lens which will be disappointing.

Alex, Nikkor 300/4 AF-S! 90% of the performance at 1/7th the price.
One of the best features of the 280/4 APO is its tripod mount. One of the worst features of the 300/4 AFS is its tripod mount. Because of the tripod mounts it's much more likely you'd see the 100% performance of the 280/4 APO than the 90% performance of the 300/4 AFS.

Looking at the lens that I have coming and those that have sold previously, I believe that the tape is covering the Leica logos a well as the 77mm engraving and is in the 2nd group of 500 made:
