Has anyone noticed a problem firing the flashes using PW2's and a Sekonic L358 meter with the PW module? I was shooting over the weekend with my new Einstein connected to a PW2 and noticed very intermittent firing with the meter when I was doing my light readings. Worked great when the meter was within 4 ft of the light but any further and it would only fire about 20% of the time. I switched to a much longer cord on the PW2 and even switched to a different PW2 same result. When I use another PW2 as the trigger I had no problems firing the light. I still need to do more testing but I wonder if this is related to the problems reported above in this thread.
jhoeft: the issue is the receiver getting "blinded" by the noise from the Einstein (same thing happens to the PW TT) so you probably have the same problem. Move the receiver further away from Einstein..
Not only is this screwing with my studio rentals but now my on location shoots too. I need to travel light and want to bring 2 speedlights for side lighting and an Einstein for a main. How am i going to trigger my speedlights with my PWII and trigger my Einstein?
I have come up with an immediate, solid and effective workaround for the PW/Einstein range issue that completely solves the issue while we are working with PW to eliminate the issue via hardware changes. Please see:
