So I can finally start sharing some of the photos I took in Japan back in January Unfortunately I couldn't pick the location for this or ANY of the eight cars I shot (Japan is really tough to shoot at lol) but I did what I could given the location and I'm pretty pleased with the results. This was a quick and dirty shoot using only two speedlites - I had three other cars to shoot in the same day. No interior shots or engine bay because they were completely stock, this car is a demo car for a company called Tamon Design which is basically an avantgarde body kit maker. Let me know what you guys think, I know they aren't perfect Also for anyone that's interested some behind the scenes and some additional info on this shoot up on my blog
The main thing imo is that the back ground didn't compeat
with the car.
I think you did a great job on this shoot.
1,3,4 are the best, with 1 being my fave.
Nice shots considering the limitations imposed on you. Were the speedlites bare, or did you use umbrellas/softboxes or other types of modifiers? Just curious.

Thanks. The speedlites were bare at 1/2 power. I find that the recycle time is really annoying when I shoot at full power so I normally use 1/2 in daylight and just move the lights in realllly close lol.
I've had a subscription to super street for years and I discovered your blog and found out you're responsible for a good chunk of some of my favorite photography on the mag. Not too long ago i think i stared at your shot of the old silver GTR trying to figure out how you pulled off such a beautiful shot, only to discover you were kind enough to lay it all out on your website!
Just wanted to say thanks for being open, I look forward to seeing more! You mind if I ask what you drive since you are obviously a car guy?

Cool. Thanks for the reply. Been a long time since I shot cars, and never used flash back then. May play around with it sometime.
pretty sick stuff considering the circumstances. Did you have to do any composites of these? The first one looks like you lit the front and rear fenders separately, and there looks to be a light for the grill. And did you just set the light outside the frame on number 6 or did you clone one out? Thanks for answering some noob questions

You just brought back some memories from the 90's. I actually had a letter published in SS
