I definitely use my 24-70 more at the wide end than anywhere else, and I've sometimes not taken it with me because it's too heavy for my liking (nothing inherently wrong with its weight; it needs that glass to be what it is).
I happen to have an exceptionally sharp and reliable copy, and so I'm not sure I want to ditch it. On the other hand, a local photographer I respect a lot (a Canon shooter) uses just three lenses for most of his work, with the 24/1.4 featuring heavily for him, along with the 50/1.2 and 135/2.

Yep, that's pretty much one of my ideal kits, very much like something a Leica M shooter might have used back in the day. My other ideal kit would be 14-24, 35 f/1.4, 135mm.
I've always enjoyed seeing what the much more experienced photographers carry with them, kits for working photographers seem to shrink as they get older.
David's only about 22, so he's started out at the end, so to speak.
I'm a prime shooter by nature, and so I can't help but gravitate toward the 24/1.4 on that basis alone. I already own the 50/1.8, 85/1.4 and 180/2.8, so a 24/1.4 might complete things.
This tells us that it is in production....! just a matter of a few more weeks and it will be at B&H in NYC...
That line of primes...24/1.4 35/1.4 (I have the 58/1.2...pain in the ass to focus at 1.2..) and 135/2 is also my dream team...
Hey Vener
Just to show you that the weather is bad also in New Jersey I just opened the window and took a shot with my d700 and 58mm wide open at 1.2
Show us how bad the weather is by you with that 24mm... http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4036/4477395964_3b1918a678_o.jpg
