I'm one of the beta testers for Adobe CS5, and up until today we haven't been allowed to disclose such information. Now Adobe suggests we post images produced by the new software, although we are not allowed to discuss the features until April 12.
So far so good, could you send me CS5 so I can try it too Anything new for us Nature photographers??
I would like to see a command that adds bark to metal, that would fix all out fence sitters, and sign standing birdies nicely
I am glad I didn't get CS4 recently, now I am two versions behind
I don't see much of a difference in the two shots. The raw engine in new lightroom looks quite good especially in the noise and sharpening dept. If cs5 gets the same engine that will be a big improvement.

Except the missing branches above the bird.
Great. I was not certain that content-aware fill was going to make it into CS5 even though Adobe has been talking about it lately. If it is in the beta, sounds like it's going to be there.
Wow. Those new content-aware functions are going to do one or all of:
- save a lot of people a lot of time
- put a lot of people out of work
- really "dumb down" post
- make any sort of still image far less credible as "modifications" are getting high quality and easier to do (ie. "here's me with Mrs. Obama", "your honor, in this photo you can clearly see that the speed limit sign is not where the officer claimed it was", "no, I was never at that resort with my ex-girlfriend - see?" etc...etc...)
Distracting trees in the Bg or across the subject is a major turnoff for me and also
a major challenge to fix it. If CS5 makes this kind of job a lot easier,I will seriously
think about purchasing it.
The OP demonstrates that you can recompose complicated images (even natural ones)-after the fact. It appears you could take another bird, put it on a branch and have a BOB (bird on branch) dialogue. This is an extremely powerful tool for both new and legacy images.
Colour wise, I prefer the before. As for the cloning out of the branches, it looks like this was done quite hurriedly. The point of the beak suffered some sharpness, and if you look at the light coloured leaves above the bird (about 1/2" below the top of photo), well, that doesn't look too good.
I'm sure Adobe's new flagship offers more than what you've shown here, but this is not convincing, especially not if the cloning is an example of an automated feature.
I will be SO grateful if PSCS5 will work with Snow Leopard. I have experienced the well-documented crashes on "save as" with PSCS3. Also, maybe Mac users will get 64 bit processing. This upgrade might just be worth it, unlike CS4.

I am not representing Adobe's new flagship. This is a peek, and a quick job at that.
That "content aware" feature is quite intriguing. I can see where it could be abused by those that aren't capable of doing complex clone jobs or don't want to take the time to execute them. But it could be a real time saver for those of us that are capable of doing it the regular way.
