I guess I'm the only non-Sam fan on this board. I just don't get it; decent images, but nowhere on par with the other "Greats" on this board, sorry Sam, no offense.

while i agree with every thing gabe said, i do think that there is something to be said about stylistic difference. some couples don't want their connection captured in the form of ethereal, emotional portraiture, but want to portray themselves in a more goofy/contrived way. (dont mean contrived in a negative sense, its just the only word i could think of) sam is a shot planner, he draws stuff out the day before or whatever. i dont think you or i do that gabe, because for us its much more about the little looks in their eyes or stuff that is just them naturally (not holding instruments in an alley, for instance)....Show more →
Dude, if you were Stella...you would have got your groove back. #75 is legit hotness and Howie Long's # when he played for the Raiders. Seriously though, top notch.
My immediate initial thought on browsing through: Go away - you're too good/consistent. You make "too much" good work. That said, don't leave, please. It's great to see even if it does give me an inferiority complex.
Right of #2 = win, although I'd like the woman in the background gone.
#12 is nice. Becoming a more common type of image, but that doesn't make it any less good.
#13: Who's that guy?
#15: Clever. Well executed.
#29 makes my OCD happy.
#30's sweet. I keep seeing that tram coming to hit them though.
#35 is a really nice environmental portrait.
#36 doesn't work for me. Just a blurry mess.
#49: I like it.
#52: Nice character portrait.
#63: Perfect placement of the logo. Whole thing is cohesive.
#68: Nice faux-antique look. Works well for the image.
#70: Well done on the group shot. Very well done - much more interesting than most.
#73 is good - reminds me of Joe McNally's female knight in shining armor on the subway for some reason - perhaps it's the guy on the bike?
#74: Very much a story-telling photo. Inspires inquisitive thought and speculation.
#75: Well done, and I seem to just like these kind of shots.
#79: I don't have anything to say other than nice.
Upper-left of #81: Sorry, hate the couch. I keep seeing two hairy pink thighs.
#82: Well balanced interior/exterior. Cool venue location, great cake photo.
#92 is somewhat amusing for some reason. Perhaps it's her looking over at him for feedback and him not looking at all.
Sam,
Some beautiful work here. 11,24,73 stunning shots and post. You really have a great talent for using the tilt shift but not over doing it. 15 made me LMAO.
Sam..... once again good times working with ya buddy. By the way thanks for photographing my good side while I was holding the umbrella in #13 Looking forward to tomorrows shoot with ya in the SUN
#12 was the last shot of the day taken in pouring rain and YES Sam did lay down on his stomach (in non rain clothes) and take that shot. Sam is a true soldier !
