I'm only waiting on FLAT (as in apartment, not a chest that leaves you wondering what to do with your hands) and BLOODY and then I'll be truly satisfied

Bugger off you ruddy Yankee wanker.

Happy now?

Blame Alex, things always spiral out of control when he posts in one of my threads.

That said and true story. One of my old primary school teachers who was well known for being a bully was at a wedding, comes up to my and my assistant during the dinner (he also went to the same school) and sucked up to us horribly, he was almost licking our boots. He went away, we turned to each other and said 'Aye..' and left it at that. Was weird. Then my dad told me why. Apparently he's been beaten up many times by ex pupils, had nasty stuff through his letter box, etc. Revenge from several pupils gone bad for the beatings and bullying that caused it. He's scared stiff of a couple of big blokes like me and my assistant who remember all to well what he put us through. I know which guys did the beatings, I applaud them for it, but it's not my kind of thing and beneath me to be honest. I'll the kind of bloke whose quite happy to leave it to G-d who methink will be far more effective and inventive in assigning exact and just punishment for a bullying teacher than I could...

Just a quick follow up to all this - the assistant that volunteered did a great job and I used the 50 1.4 for about 1/3 of my shots.

Here's the blog post from the day

Nice photos!

This thread was making me nostalgic for the 8 weeks I spent over in Europe in 2002, I spent 6 of the weeks in Glasgow doing a summer semester at Glasgow School of the Arts. We also spent a weekend on the Isle of Skye, cycling all over the place because only one of us remembered our drivers license, and he was afraid to drive on the "wrong" side of the road I took a backpackers bus tour of Great Britain, so a lot of the locales you were mentioning were making me wish I could go back!

Oh... The lights in the frame in the last 2, where they your strobes or from the video guy?

I hope you tried the local liquids whilst on Skye! They do some good stuff up there.

The lights are mine, there was MEANT to be a secondary fill light to camera right but some jackass had knocked it over 5 minutes before the first dance, broken the trigger and not bothered to say anything to me, so I had to do the best job I could with just one light.

Thinking about some drunk guest knocking over a light makes me very nervous/sad/angry...

We stayed in a little bed and breakfast type place on Skye, and honestly after spending the whole day on our bikes criss-crossing the Island I think we just drank a couple of beers and fell asleep. We missed out I guess

I just took the time to read every single post and reply. I didn't know FM had such a lively UK contingent. That, and I've never heard anyone refer to Americans as colonials aside from a history book. Good read.

Thank you.

We're a very small group so a number of us have met up, shot together and got drunk together numerous times, compare that with a stereotypically mickey taking set of British humour and yeah, it does get a bit odd sometimes, as usual I blame Alex.

P.S. all Americans, Australians and Canadians are DEFINITELY Colonials, if you're feeling particularly 19th Century you could add India and most of East Africa to the list as well
