Very good idea and execution. If I may be allowed to offer, I think that making the vase completely opaque (or even black) via PP could be an improvement. This will enhance the abstractness of the pic, reduce the vase recollection and therefore enhance the WA motif.
Brilliant execution and masterful use of negative space. The vase and the feminine form create just enough tension to make your eyes want to flip between them.
Interesting idea. I think you need to keep the vase the way it is to keep the context of the photo. Making this a full silhouette might make it too abstract for the theme. I like it the way it is.
Thank you all very very much for the comments and suggestions. As a shoot who still shoots a lot of film, the lighting on this was finicky enough that I was glad I shot it digital; it would have taken weeks otherwise
In this a particular case, I think if the vase was all black, it would be too "graphic", instead of photographic. I tried cropping the photo in various ways (this shot is entirely uncropped in post, the GH-1 supports square mode natively), but it kind of lost the impression of "legs" and that lovely feminine shape.
