Gene that's PERFECT thank you so much, I had no idea interfit were doing that, 300w/s probably isn't as much as I'd ideally like but it's still a hell of a lot more powerful than my 430EX!

Calumet Photo in the UK has just introduced an AC/DC Genesis. I think it is 300Ws, and the battery delivers about 3 times the number of flashes based on their spec and the Interfit spec.

You'll want to read through a bit, but all the info you need is there. The charger works on 110-240V, so you can use that in the UK with a dual voltage mono like the 300RX. Or you can use a standard 110V mono and just always run it through the pack, which isn't a bad thing unless you're doing an all-day studio shoot.
You know, apart from the fact your batteries are for AC type strobe units the similarity to a Quantum style Turbo is not so far off. My complaint with the Q Turbos is that you can't change batteries on site when they die. With your solution this would be really easy to do and you could even add higher amperage batteries too. Next time I'm due a battery change I think I'll consider doing this.
