Does anyone know the approximate value of Nikon 8mm f/2.8 AIS Fisheye lens in excellent condition. I could not find much about the value of this lens as it is a very rare glass.
Dan
Upwards of $2500, but you won't like the results.
See K.R.'s review here; Nikon 8mm
Also, on E-bay, there is a 13mm Nikon for sale. It should go upwards of $13,000!!! It's really the one you want. Nikon only made a total of 350 of all versions of this lens.
Keep in mind, Sigma just announced an 8mm to 16mm? zoom lens-in fisheye.
Wow...I found 8mm AIS for $700, but I am hesitant to buy it. I don't know if I would be able to sell it to make some $. I am trying to come up with enough cash for 16-35mm VR lens.
Your right. I just saw the shots on KR, and didn't really care for them. I've never been a big fan of fisheye lenses.
Can't view the stuff on Nikon Cafe, because I'm not a member. But, I'm sure there are some fantastic shots out there.
I think $700 sounds like a bargain. But, I have no idea what the re-sale market is for these lenses. They're pretty rare, and specialized. I would think you wouldn't have to much trouble selling it though, as you just don't see very many of them for sale.

I signed up months ago, just can't remember my log in. And, it takes so many posts before you can even view the B/S forum, so I'll just stick here.
And, I got my NAS Vaccine a few years ago...

Of course, there is always the legendary 4 MM Nikon fisheye.
Never even heard of that one, and couldn't find any information on the net about it. Is that one of the lenses that Nikon only made like 12 copies, and they cost big $$$??
There was a write up in Popular Photography a few years ago. Herb Keppler had the privilege of actually seeing one. Said it looked like a bowling ball stuck on the end of the camera. I'm going by memory on the FL, and I might be wrong? Maybe 6? I saw pictures of it, and the camera was dwarfed by the front element.
I don't think it ever sold commercially. It was mostly a "Look what I can Do!" type thing.
