I have the impression that it's a bit less sharp at 16mm in the far corners. Sorry, haven't had much time to test and take further pictures. It hasn't got the biting sharpness of the 14-24 but I like this lens a lot.

EDIT: Just added 3 pics taken at 16mm (F4 / F5.6 and F6.3). Takes a while to load them.

cputeq: Keep that image ready for many other posts. With the hi-ISO of the D700, D3/D3s I guess F4.0 becomes practical but I don't own any AF lenses that slow. So Nikon where's my VRed 24-70 F2.8??

quite low distortion, and sharpness is very good. Wide open the corners aren't great, but even at F4 they are (IMO) great. F8 is the great equalizer, and the lens kills by then. The biggest complaint i think would be the corner falloff at larger apertures.
