i think that is taking it a little too far, certainly cheap video often has a different picture style shall we say than film with different contrast/tonal range and digital noise etc etc do make it look different even if at 24fps but even if you used a super high end digital movie camera for both 24fps and 30fps shooting with everything the same aside from teh 24 vs 30 you can definitely tell them apart whenever there is motion or panning
I reread what I wrote and perhaps wasn't clear! I certainly agree that "different contrast/tonal range and digital noise etc etc do make it look different" - I wasn't trying to imply that the medium doesn't play a role, just that the jump from 30 to 24 isn't something magical per se. That's why I made the comparison between 30fps film and 24fps film - (same filmstock, aperture, shutter etc) the only difference there would be somewhat lesser smoothness in the 24fps.
I only posted because there is a cheerleading section that portrays "24 fps as film-like and 30 fps video" is horrible and appears to put the blame on the 30 rather than the video It was good to see the issue objectively described.

Because if you are shooting with a 5D2 at 24 fps, it will make it look more like the big film cameras and less like a $200 digital video cam from Costco.
FPS is probably the smallest factor that makes the 5D2 video look less like a Costco cam....
Large sensor, interchangeable lenses, 1080P at 38mbps and the DOF that can be achieved with the 5D2 far outweigh the frame rate.
24fps is film rate and most DVD's are 24P.... However, much of what you see for web video is 30fps. 720P 60fps is desirable by many for smoother slo-mo sequences and that is often converted down to 24 fps upon final renders...
It will be nice to be able to shoot natively at 24P on the 5D2 to also match the 7D....on multicamera shoots.
I am very excited for it to arrive, but I would really really really be happy with Canon if they release 720/60p as well. (Considering the new Rebel is getting it.... I'm gonna be pretty bummed if the 5D doesn't get it.)
