Good for you! But kinda sly for the seller not to mention about it. It's impossible to get those pins bent during transportation, so he must have them bent before shipping. I would leave a bad feedback for him. Which forum or internet listing did you find this camera? I hope its not FM.
I can't say for sure that the pin was bent when it was shipped--I could have done it although I was very gentle with inserting the cards. Regardless I don't think the seller knew. I think he dables in selling and buying camera equipement and wasn't the original owner. Initally, I didn't try shooting without a card inserted. Right before I figured out the pin issue, I did so and the camera worked perfectly (on demo mode). If the pin was bent when the seller bought the camera and if he didn't test it with a card, he wouldn't have known about the issue. I don't want to damage is reputation if there was no intent (and I could have been at fault as well--no way to really know at this point).
Regardless,I'm happy now that the camera is working and that the issue was not fried image processor circuit board dohicky.
I will replace the socket at some point in the next month or two--shouldn't be too expensive here--labor is fairly cheap and the part can't be that much.
Thanks
