p.1 #1 · Backdrop Stand Height Suggestions

Suggestions needed on height of backdrop stand. Is the idea of higher better because you can always lower, but you can't make a shorter one taller.

You can do a lot with one of those "kits" that has the 3 piece cross-bar, and 2 10 ft stands.

Some folks use super clamps, a cross bar and 2 12 foot stands.

If you're not planning on transporting and shooting remotely, AutoPoles, a cross bar and super clamps with U-hooks work really well. It's very stable and will support multiple backgrounds at one time. The cost is not much different than what you've looked at above.

Those look like pretty solid components to me if you're moving around. Maybe a couple sandbags if you thought it wasn't as stable as you'd like but seems like a good choice.

This is the one I've been using for six years http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/395974-REG/Savage_6203750_Background_Port_A_Stand_Travel_Case_.html
When I need it wider, I have a telescoping paint pole I purchased at Menards that I drilled holes in. When I get the pole out beyond 14 feet, I'll use a third stand in the middle and clamp it. I've had it 20' wide with no probelms.
