That's true. Here is comparison of the bokeh at different apertures. The bokeh is getting smoother (better?) at smaller apertures, which is typical for this lens (and maybe for all Zeiss lenses?), but not the case with most of the Canon lenses I have used.
Philber and Joakim, thank you! It is not easy to enter a thread where all images are on such a high quality level.
My image changes appearance in a larger format where you can se the individual shape and transparency of each single sand grain.
Some more pictures form the Donau Classic event in Ingolstadt. Today I used only the 50MP (so all following pictures 50MP).
A few weeks ago there was a discussion, that the 50MP images look flatter / less 3d than the images from the 35ZE. I must say, that I can't see this difference. And I prefer the higher contrast and sharpness of the 50MP. But at the same time I prefer the 35mm focal length over 50mm.
I really love this one, Bobu. There is a great sense of depth and light. The car is absolutely glowing and almost looks like the sky, while the ground has just enough hint of warmth.

Boris
Thanks for posting those Boris. It seems like f/2.8-f/4 is best for bokeh and maybe for sharpness. It may depend on the distance of the background somewhat (separation).
I just got this lens (35 f/2). Here's a few of the first test shots, taken at f/2, f/2.8, and lastly f/3.5. The background here is closer to the subject, so maybe it will be helpful, although I think we maybe are getting the same results as far as bokeh. BTW, these have been cropped over 50% (originally in portrait orientation):

Philber - 1st shot with 28 is a cracker, nice one, please keep us posted with your progress using the 28, I'm very interested in getting one.
Bobu - Great car shots, somehow the rendering really does work well on these classics.
I just got myself a ZE 50/1.4 (I had already put 50/2 summicron on ebay), here's a few shots from first outing.
The last one is 3 shots combined to deal with the DR.
Fantastic last shot, love it!
(I can never seem to get mine to look right)
Congratulations on your new lens, John; You are wasting no time putting it to good use! Godo that you also don't let your 21 gather too much dust! Just love your last shot, the likes of which have evaded me up to now.
That looks terrific Gary! I'd love to have that little 25 instead of the Nikkor 24/2.8 AI. "Little" when compared to the 21 of course, but a chunk compared to the Nikkor, which is very very small.

Some landscapes with the 100/2 Makro-Planar on D700, from this weekend.
I’m a new Zeiss user and here’s my confession with some of ‘not so very much exemplary shots’.
This thread has been an inspiration source for me and I should tell that some of you guys are just great in marketing because you convinced me to spend some crazy $1800 on a lens (100ZE)
Special marketing medals go to :
Mast3rChi3f
Samuli
Paul Yi (your ‘juggler in a street’ and ‘bench and the rail track’ are 3D references to me!)
Snowboarder (I simply love your ‘Pelicans’)
And what is this all about? It’s about my frustration on the results I get and how they can be improved. I hope something can be done because I am in panic and really thinking about if my 100ZE unit is defective.
For the last three weeks since 100ZE purchase I’ve been using the lens on my old 20D plus tried for a couple of shots on 5DII like this one (
) but I did not notice much difference in terms of easiness of manual focusing, volume of chromatic aberration and lack of 3D-ness.
And my main points of disappointment are:
- Where is 3D here? Seems to me on these shots all is set for 3D-ness but the bench and the pot don’t ‘jump out’ (20D).
- Why so much CA? I expected better results, really. Look at the bride. She’s simply glowing! (20D)
- Zoom challenge. Do you guys use LiveView? Handheld Or some of you find eyepiece eyecups like KPS 2CC useful?
Herisson, I'm no expert but it looks like some of your shots are OOF. The bench and the last two are really nice. Doesn't the 3D look usually come out when you are in focus and in a shallow depth a field. Try taking shots a f/2.

Ugh. I almost dislocated my jaw - it dropped that much. Bloody amazing shots Jeffrey. Both shots are fantastic but that second one really shows off the 21 - in the detail and texture of the rocks in the foreground.
