It is the Dead Vlei in Namibia. My visit kind of turned out into a fiasco, and I returned with only two snapshots.
Why?
As you know we are often interested in the same places. Namibia and the Dead Vlei is on my bucket list for the next years. Therefore I'm very interested in your experience.
Toothwalker - Brilliant work. Great color of sand.
Ronny - Beautiful capture. Nice sky. By the way, is that an old cruiser or something ? It is a bit funny in a way it almost looks like the white sail boat is pulling the dark rusty steel gun ship of some sort.
akul, I like the symmetry in your second shot of the first post,
darbe, that Otus shot is again amazing. The colours, the sharpness, the pop, you made the most out of the beautiful light.
Ronny, I like the watchtower shot, and the mood on the water and sky,
Vancouver47 fancy club house!
skyapad, I like the intense colours in the rotten bridge shot, where is it going to, or what is it?

Well. My travel companion was not into photography, so it was a give and take vacation. We had agreed on two days in the Sossusvlei area. Day 1 was meant to explore the area. Packed with photo equipment, I made the mistake of climbing one of those big dunes. The temperature was somewhere between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius, and I was half dead when I arrived in Dead Vlei, where I only got 10 minutes to look around. It is a 60-km drive back to base camp, and the companion was getting a bit nervous. I took two pictures just in case; the plan was to return with sunrise the next day. However, on our way back to the camp we got stuck in the sand and spent the night out in the open. The next day we got some assistance and got going again, but back in the camp the park manager got angry and wanted to present us a fine for illegal camping. We didn't wait for it and just left, so there never was a Day 2. I have a few passable dune shots from Day 1, but I can't show them here because they are not alternative.
