Funny that this subject came up when it did. I was just thinking the other day about how much I love using the 'simple' 50P and how many keepers I get from it (imo) in relation to all the others (I too have a fair number of ZF's including 1.4/35).
I almost never use it wide open, my preferred apertures are 2.8 or below for street.
The weight, the form, the focus throw of it is the best comapred to all the rest for me. The optics stopped down is just great.
Good taste about the lens How true! P50 is my favorite too. It not just a single thing here or there but as a whole in terms of size, handling, weight, focus, rendering and duel character even price.

My thoughts exactly! Though there are IMHO better ZEs, this one has a special place in my heart (and bag too)!
edgatery - great shot and congrats on your two new lenses. Looking forward to see your findings.
Rodluvan - I am glad to hear that for street you use 2 - 2.8 with 1.4/35. I have no idea how you get your focus in your shots to begin with, if you are shooting 1.4 for moving subject, I'd think your the focusing god Not that you are super good at getting focus with these lenses. I cheat often. As I shoot mostly 'still' subject, I either shoot several shots, or use LiveView. By the way, I love the composition + rendition of #2. That is a super yummy one.

I was actually talking about the 50P (not 1.4/35) from 2.8 to smaller apertures
Rodluvun that last one could be Phil Jackson's brother (former NBA Chicago Bulls / L.A. Lakers Coach). What a great street shot! All of your street captures are inspiring.
Good to see Philber and Akul still posting in this thread. I've followed you both for over a year now and learned so much. I haven't seen Luka around here lately though. He must be spending all his time in the Leica thread? All three of you (and your terrific advice / photos) are the main reason I purchased the awesome 21 and now the 35. Thank you! Speaking of 35 ... it's out for delivery.

do any of you all know where I might find a source that lists the serial #'s by which I might identify a Zeiss 100MP as being either ZF.1 or ZF.2?
Its much easier than that, ZF1's don't have the focus confirm chip - so they sell for about 25% less on the used market. I'm starting to migrate from ZE's to ZF's to get the manual aperture, so I'm looking at the ZF1's to adapt to Canon and Nex.
Just to clarify - the ZF.1's work with the focus confirmation system (light) on Nikon bodies. At least this is the case with my D700. Not sure about Canon's....

ZF.2 Lenses
On the front of the lens, the engraving have ZF.2
The minimum aperture ( f/22) is orange,
There are electronic contacts on the rear of the lens
Rodluvan, JSPHOTOS, Smridevan, Carsten - Thanks for the support on my dirt shot
Rodluvan - You just revealed that you are one of the Focusing Gods ! Focusing moving subject with 50 planar is not easy, 1.4/35 is real hard ! Hats off.
JSPHOTOS - Once again, thank you for your kind words, but I can't take credit. Like many others, I was only inspired by the photos and discussion happening on this thread and started posting after I went through the whole thread ( Was not as hard as it was only 110 pages back then ) Not only this thread got me in debt, I also learned a lot just by posting stuff, and of course from other posters amazing works. ( I won't try to name them as there are so many.)
Carsten, Philippe - Ha ha, I know, but I could not resist. I thought you might like that dirt rendition. I am glad I caught your attention ( On the other hand, it is hard to see healthy looking dirt in the city. I was drawn to that too. Seriously )
frezeiss - Nice set. Cloud on the #1 is beautiful, but I really like the composition of #3. Very nice texture.
Some more 'street' shots. I was a little proud of the focus until I saw Rodluvan's real street shot with 1.4/35, ha ha.
Great set. Very nice portrait with your son and 'Sonora' with lovely oof rendition. Contrast between #1 and #3 basically showcases why I love planar so much. #3 is bitingly sharp, B/W with steam, however, stole the show.
