How do you like using the lens for these kind of shots - environmental portraits / documentary?

The virtues like bold color, excellent detail and clarity are great for landscape/nature photography, but less important in portraits and documentary. I think faster lens with lower distortion and better blur like 35/1.4 is more practical.
