Thanks very much, guys. There were certainly plenty where I missed focus! But I did find myself getting better at following them. The gull was shot at f /9 - definitely not wide open.
BTW, the b & w shot was made by me leaning over my wife's lap, sticking the camera outside a window of a tour bus, and snapping the shutter. Being a photographer while being a tourist is pretty difficult.
Note: I cheated a little bit, I couldn't quite fit the whole memorial in one frame so I had to take two images slightly offset then stitched them together. I would have used the ZE 21, but you're not allowed to carry any kind of bag while on the premises and I could only bring one lens. I chose the 35 for its versatility.
This is turning out to be an expensive thread... after seeing all the beautiful images here, I finally broke down and ordered the 21mm f2.8 and 28mm f2 ZE's...
Okay, one of you two guys needs to change his avatar! Congratulations on the lenses, and my condolences for your wallet. I am curious why you chose these two lenses, instead of a wide and tele, or whatever other combination?
[Edit: Hah! Happened while I typed. Very nice, Molson (as in the beer?)]
Lovely shot, Ajay, with great mood!
Glad to see you posting, Bob! You would have loved our meet in Berlin! And lack of inspiration is the last thing that comes to mind when I look at your shots!
Congrats on your new lenses, Molson!

(I saw James' avatar, and promptly changed mine... I've been trying to change it for days, but for some reason the photo wasn't uploading until now... )
I badly wanted to try the 21mm f2.8, so I ordered a new one last week (after I missed out on a nice used one locally). I subsequently found a used 28 f2 that I will try using for some aurora photos next month. Both are coming by snail mail, but hopefully the 21 will show up this week.
I already have the CV 40mm f2 and 90mm f3.5 in EF mount, so that gives me a nice range of prime focal lengths. I had tried the CV 20mm f3.5, but was pretty disappointed with its performance. I returned it and used the credit towards the 21mm ZE.
@Jochenb - so far I'm loving the 35/1.4 I didn't get to shoot much as of late and when I did my 21/2.8 was too wide and the rokkor 58/1.2 was just a little too close for most stuff (I tend to be stuck indoors and shooting friends/family). I couldn't afford to get the 35/1.4 and keep those two so I essentially traded... so far I can say I have no regrets (which is a testament to how much I like my copy). I'll be buying the 21/2.8 back once money allows but I'm in no hurry since the 35/1.4 will be keeping me busy and I've still got my 100/2 MP
