There are so many wonderful images in this thread. Jochenb, your work always stands out and I look forward to seeing what you do with the 35 1.4. Hopefully it doesn't cost me any more money.
Thank you digitaljay
Love your shot. The colors and movement in the water are great.

Could you post some examples? I find the lens sharp enough at any f-stop on a 21MP FF camera, but perhaps your expectations are higher.
I'll try once I figure out how to use Lightroom. I've been using Nikon Capture NX1 which doesn't support raw for the D90 so I switched to Lightroom instead of upgrading.
Smridevan -- You may well find your 24-70 is an exceptional lens (many report the same about that being one of Nikon's best), and blasphemous as it might be to say, it could satisfy you and your type of shooting better than the 34/1.4. But of course it isn't 1.4, and it doesn't have the Zeiss subtle signature style of rendering.
But your eyes may not be playing you false.
I'm still a fan of many Canon lenses, sometimes equal to, or even preferred to my Zeiss glass. Then again, I have some Zeiss that is unmatched by any brands I've tried so far. No one focal length or brand will be able to do it all for ever shooting situation, or at a reasonable price point.
There are some bargain lenses out there that produce amazing images, but usually there is a trade off in ease of use or speed of aperture, and certainly build quality differs from more expensive lenses.
With more use and testing, I'm sure you'll understand the 35/1.4 and its particular qualities (I'm not a vested interest -- don't own one, only have the ZE 35/2), and then you can decide if it is your cup of tea or not, and in what situations you will find it most useful.
Now that you've brought the issue up, I'm looking forward to seeing some comparisons between the two lenses.
Melbmanu, philber, prosep, Jochenb, akul - Thank you. Your compliments are much appreciated.
Philber - love the first shot. I think the 85 can be a flower lens
Jochenb - fantastic use of scale
Jim Schemel - the car shots a couple pages back were great. mood and subject matter are well matched
Bobu - I'll see if I can buy the ND directly from Heliopan. The wait time when buying from a dealer in the U.S. is 6-10 weeks. Thanks.
Bass Harbor Lighthouse. 35f/2
I was there midday in a crowd so there was no place/ time to setup the tripod. Just a quick snapshot with the 35.
Library 100MP
I am a student at a small college in Pennsylvania. This is a shot of the library overlooking the lake from a walk just before sunset.
