Jochenb- superb image with 35/1.4 Do you find image quality outweighs the bulk and extra weight of 1.4 ?
digitaljay - Very nice lighthouse shot from first set. Great shot with100MP, of the dome of the Capitol . I quite like the last 2 shots. 100MP shot and 21 of pediment and colonade. Is that Jefferson?
Jim - #3 from first set is my favorite . Then #1 on the recent set, wow. I really love that shot.
vincent - superb coffee cup shots again. I like the last one from 50 / 1.4 , though comp might be a tiny little bit tight for my personal preference.
James - nice set #2 is my favorite
Gary - I also like the #1 very much. Beautiful image
prosep - Very nice set. non color close-up against all color sky. #1 is just gorgeous

Ajay: Now's that's one beautiful lens!
This weekend I did some test shots with some of the stuffed animals from my daughter.
I wanted to find out whether it is possible do to this kind of images without using a flash. All shots 5DII with 50MP @f/11, no artifcial light, just natural sun-light:
James Burden: I love all your flowerpictures! Especially the last one, here we call it a 'chinese rose' but maybe misunderstood by this dutch name. My compliments to you.
Gary - Wow. That is a stunning photo with great b/w work.
Bobu - Amazing. Those picture in my opinion, are in the realm of hyper-real work. #1 and #3 especially shows the feeling to me. It feels like focus is everywhere, lighting is everywhere, with immense amount of detail. Both black and white background works very well.
Some more from Delaware Water Gap. I am in the process of re-acquainting myeslf with 21mm. It is ineresting, when I see images on LCD on back of camera, I get disinterested, and tend to switch to 35. Later on, when I see those photos on computer screen, I like them quite a lot. Then I question myself why did I switch lens then. This flustration led me to get Hoodman loupe. It is great that now I can see images on the back lcd much better. Bad news is, yet one more thing to carry, and forget. The day when I shot these, of course, I left the loupe home. Ha ha.

So after spending a week reading all about Zeiss lens in this forum and the beautiful pictures that they produce, I took the plunge and bought the Zeiss 35/1.4 ZF.2. I use it with my D90. From what I've been reading and from my initial experience with it, the bokeh is amazing. However, I heard the resolution of this lens wasn't its strong point compared to the 35/2, but since I don't own the 35/2, I decided to test and compare the resolution with my Nikon 25-70/2.8G at 35mm.
I took shots at f2.8 and f4 for both lens (at 35mm for the Nikon). I viewed the raw file in Picasa at 100% zoomed in (just ordered Lightroom and still waiting for it). I was disappointed to discover that the Nikon has better resolution in the center at both apertures than the Zeiss 35/1.4! However, the Zeiss was slightly sharper along the outer edge.
Is this normal? Did I get a bad Zeiss sample? I thought Zeiss was king of resolution. Considering that the Zeiss is a prime lens and is more expensive than my Nikon, I would expect it to perform better at the center than the Nikon. Does anyone have a similar finding about the resolution of the Zeiss 35/1.4 lens?...Show more →
Could you post some examples? I find the lens sharp enough at any f-stop on a 21MP FF camera, but perhaps your expectations are higher.
Akul... just incredible scenery. That has got to be one of the greenest places on Earth, and you've captured it magnificently!
Bobu... enjoyed your "experiment" with the stuffed animals and natural lighting. Really impressive detail there. My version of a stuffed animal with the ZF100/f2MP...
OK, I cheated... there might be a couple Alienbees helping light this pooch up...
Bobu, great work!
Akul, I like N)4, 5 and 6 best, as if you got more and more "reacquainted" with your 21 with a bit of practice...:-). N° 5 is great stuff!
dj, Ajay, carsten, philippe - thank you for your kind words
It does feel as if Nort East Coast of US is turning into tropic. Must be from the large amount of rain we got this spring.
Gsteve- quite a motorcycle. That is where Germany meets the US. Nice detail
dj - Great puppy shot. Amazing how you could make the dog pose and stay. #2 is my favorite.
Jochenb - Looking at the images this lens can produce, I can imagine quality makes size/weight worth it.
Thank you akul and Uzay. Yes, that is the Jefferson Memorial. It is a beautiful memorial and well worth the walk.
There are so many wonderful images in this thread. Jochenb, your work always stands out and I look forward to seeing what you do with the 35 1.4. Hopefully it doesn't cost me any more money.
Here is one more from the 21ZE. Unfortunately I only had a 4 stop ND with me. I can't seem to find a 10 stop 82mm.

Thanks Robert, akul, dj dunzie, Ajay and Philippe!
Akul, I really like #2.
digitaljay, Uzay, I use a 82mm Heliopan ND 3,0 (10 stop, 1000x) filter. At least in germany you can buy this filter directly from Heliopan www.heliopan.de
