So I have a question for those of you who have ZE 85's and have had a C/Y Planar 85. How do they compare? I have a Planar 85 which I like but the obvious advantage of the ZE is being able to focus wide open. From what I'm reading about the focus shift issue, that may also be the disadvantage but I'd like to hear your thoughts on other aspects of their differences. Since shooting portraits is important for me and since I usually shoot at 2.8 or 4 in the 6 - 10 foot range, what do you think? The Planar 85 works well for this under the right conditions.
Sorry, Jeffrey, what you are experiencing does not seem to be focus shift AFAIK. I am interested to know what answer you find, which could help others.
Sounds like a simple magnification issue. When you change focus the objects actually change magnification. It's much more noticeable when doing macro type work. That's why they have the macro focus rails, to help with that issue. That's all it is and it's normal.
A few of my recent pictures, I was lucky to find some unbelievable locations...
The last one was probably the most intense flower field I've ever seen.

Andrew, is that at Figeuroa Mountain? ( i can't spell!)
No, Figueroa lasted only for a few days and it was over ~3 weeks ago.
Nothing spectacular comparing to many other SoCal locations this year.
A lot of awful drivers on a narrow road...
One great area this season was Road 58/Road 166. Cottonwood Canyon Road
was amazing. But my best comes from another place which I'm not gonna reveal.
Sorry, I found it myself, it's completely unknown and let it stay that way

Snowboarder those are gorgeous, because of you i bought the 21mm and now i want the 100mm.
I really need to forward those messages to Zeiss
You will like your 100MP ZE, Portugal seems to be a great place to use it!
I've always wanted to go there...

Great shots Andrew. I really like your "eye" for seeing these shots.
Thank you Charles. It's been a great few weeks, sad it's over now.
I'm really proud of those locations I found myself. Pretty spectacular wildflower season.
Need to find a new subject now, any ideas?

Snowboarder, those shots are insanely crisp...WOW. I wish you'd stop posting pics from your ZE lens, I have no more money for lenses :'(
They should offer everybody who posts images on this forum a special discount. They've probably sold more lenses on here as a result than all other venues combined.

Still too early for flowers here, Andrew, but yours are totally awesome! Have you ever been to Kuikenhof?
And a few more Paris spring flowers. This one is called "ZE 21 does Louvre"
Really cool shots Philippe, I miss Paris... Maybe not all the Parisians
Yeah, I've been to Holland in May, not a big fan of their fake parks, but I really liked
the "real" tulip fields.. And flowers... OT:
Philippe...Nice shots. In Australia, we just don't match the architecture you have (culture)
I have been recently enlarging some of the shots from the ZE 21, and the color and details are amazing.
The web review of the shots is great, but more often than it does no justice to how sharp, color, micro contrast this lens is. My progression has been from a 17-40L f4, to 24LII and now of course the ZE 21mm, and I am amazed just how good this lens is.
