No Gunzorro, I think it is very sharp. Just how sharp remains to be seen in further testing. But its rendering does not highlight sharpness, the way the 35 f:2.0 does. My guess is that the extra level of fine detail over the f:2.0 can be mistaken for a reduction in apparent sharpness. Just a guess, though.
Infinity. Zeiss does always infinity unless otherwise specified. The Makro-Planars have additional charts for close-ups, but also the standard ones at infinity.
One quickie before I hit the sack. From my typical walk through Tiergarten. This time I got "caught" in the rain (in quotes because I knew it was coming, and went anyway) and stood under a tree perhaps 30-45 minutes before continuing. The light afterwards was very soft and the colours were vibrant. Worth it!
This shot was taken from under my tree, and in the full version, you can see the streaks from the raindrops
Phillip - Gorgeous interior shot. Great composition. Color and contrast are just amazingly crisp. I thought it was 21 shot before confirming. EXIF says they were shot at f2. I don't feel 35/f2 can produce that level of crispness at f2. It seems to be a perfect lens for interior shots. How do you find the ' haze ' for focusing and the weight and bulk. It must be bigger than your 85.
Philippe, congrats on finally getting your new 35/1.4. Glad you like it.
Although the ZE 35/1.4 may outperform the 35/2 at longer distance shots like this because of it has less CA and more saturated color, IMO that the new 35/1.4's raison d'etre is its smooth bokeh and smooth/slow focus transition which suits close to medium distance portrait and garden/flowers type of shots at wider apertures.Although LC talked about its haze wideopen due to undercorrected SA design, he always praised the lens for its more saturated color and cleaner/less CA rendering.
