Carsten - Great color of trees. I don't see what Bob is saying that much, could be because I am also used to see Nikon color. What got my attention was pollen on water? I wonder sharpening made them pop a bit strongly. I am too lazy to do local sharpening, but it may be the case that deserves such treatment.
I had a look at the original, and even before sharpening, it already pops, so a Gaussian blur would be about all I could do
Carsten - Love the trees and lake
Bob - some great church photos the b&w's from Maastricht are awesome.
Makten - you're back, great shot of the tulips and red wall
prosep - Nice crispness and colour on the lake shot and great shot of the deer.
Lars - awesome colours and love the atmosphere in the poeple shots
Manu - Love the pink petals on the grey decking. I'm glad there's some colour there in the decking, I'm not a fan of the post processed mono with single colour look.
One more, possibly last shot from last Friday. Hopefully I'll get some more tomorrow. Typically I have a bit of extra time Thursday evenings, and walk back through Tiergarten and past Potsdamer Platz.
Johnahill - Love that pearly king and queen shot. Very out there these people.
Carsten - I did not know you've already gaussianed it. Love that new shot. Great texture and rendition of volume of the tree on the left. I get a very good sense of depth of space from the hedge on the right to the tree on the left and the trees in the back. Very nice saturated color and gooc composition.
Excellent shots Philippe! I see a lot of high contrast in the fine detail in the shots. I would have been very surprised had you said the shots been taken with a 35/2. It definitely seems different.
Thanks, Bob, Carsten, Luka! Yes, it does feel different from other ZEs. Definitely not in the bersharp group (MPs and 35 f:2.0), not as delicately artsy as the twin f:1.4s, not as spectacular as the 21. I need to explore a lot more, and will, of course, but, if I had to categorize it right now, I'd have to say it is probably a very neutral lens indeed. Also, it is definitely sharper at wide apertures than its f:1.4 siblings, and displays massive 3D.
Nice shots. I don't have access to such fine architecture as you do, but with what I have done with the 1.4/35, I concur with your findings. I find that past f/2.8, 1.4/35 has a "smoother" bokeh than the 2/35.
