Oh Martynas, I was a bit too slow typing, and did not see your new set of portraits. Great use of train for motif. #1 and #3 are my favorite. Used 21 ah, may be #3 ?? By the way, lighting on the #3 and tone treatment is working some magic. It almost appears as if she was shot separately or something. Great effect.

Gary thanks for sharing those great 35/f2 shots... finally got a chance to go out and shoot a few "winterscapes" here before the snow is gone for good. I'm liking the 35 a lot I think, so thanks to you and others for the input when I was pondering the purchase.
A couple ZF35/f2 shots on a "blah" grey day:
Nice DJ. Wait until you get some nice, colorful scenes to photograph. There are really nice colors & contrast from the ZF35.
It's been a while since posting, but here's a statue at the beginning of Lake Zurich, near the ferry terminal at Burkiplatz. A few more to come from my Zurich trip over the next couple of days.
Both taken with Nikon D90, Carl Zeiss 2/35 at f8 and f2.8
Denoir, like that mysterious ...? plastic wrapping?
Zesto, love your bee! and the tonality in the portrait.
Joakim: mysterious last one, love it!
Martynas, thank you!. Great 1st portrait (for some reason only 2 show up... transferring data from zeissimages takes forever).
Akul, thank you! Love the "horse alley" and that last one!
Joakim - Thanks and I agree with you. From this set, I also liked the 35 shots a little more. 100 is technically great shooting planar subject, but the compression of distance enhances the graphic expression, and sometimes it feels a little too ah, 'graphic'.
I like the second shot of the flood gate very much. Very interesting view. I agree with OldMilller, you know how to use 28 really well. By the way, looking at your photos, you may be one person who would really make use of 35 f1.4, are you planning ? I am tempted, but size, weight, and cost makes it a three strikes for me at the moment.
Oldmiller - Thanks. It is Lower East Side of New York City where China Town is constantly expanding. What a cute baby ! Great portrait.
Kyle R - Interesting view. I like the dialogue of tea bag with the hands !
Rich M - Congrats on 21. Great capture of sky and the shore in foreground on the first one.
DubaiPhil - Long time no see. Great to see you photos again. Yeay statue ! I enjoy the oof background of the first one, while I like the composition of the second.
That is a stunning photo. Great timing, use of lighting, exposure. Even the reflected light from shirt? uplighting the mans' face . The look on the man's face also tells a story of life. Great shot !
Akul, yes it's the reflected light from his white shirt which is brightening up his face in the shadow section. I didn't brighten up any special areas here, I only lifted the shadows as a whole a bit in pp.
This happened on a birthday brunch. After some time this great guy adjourned to the reading room with the gazette and a cup of coffee. Couldn't resist when I saw the scene.
ZF85, f/2.8, D3:
(This is also only natural light from the windows from one side and a bit reflected light from the ground the boy was standing on, which was a bed with white sheets. This is from the same session as one of my personal favorites, which I posted many months ago here.)
Martin, those are excellent shots! Not just the lens, but the processing, so take some credit for that part.
Adding another dog picture (they are tolerant models) that I really dig the bokeh/OOF areas on. Really different from the Sigma 50/1.4 I had which made everything out of focus ultra smooth; the Zeiss gives it a bit harsher, more industrial look without looking nervous and ugly like the Canon 50/1.8...
