may I join in as a Zeiss-novice?
I started that thread at the beginning, slowly working my way through very interesting discussions, comparisons and shared experience and of course loads of splendid photographs!
I still have over a year or so to catch up - what a hardship!
Nice to see some new people, but also that most of the veterans of Zeissian technique are still contributing!
It's you guys fault that I bought my third Zeiss (100) a few weeks ago, and am investigating getting a used 35/2 as my next move. I had the 25 for a year or so and the 85 for a couple of months. Both of them not to easy for a beginner.
I will post some pictures as soon as I have figured out where to store them. Don't have a server right now. Flickr has problems, smugmug I find rather expensive, what else is there? Zeiss pages? Does that work ok?
Diploneis: I like the monochrome look and the colours! Where do you have those mountains in Lithuania?
Ajay: your bridge shot is simply superb. The glow is amazing.
Philippe: The 85 picture ist much more 3D, just look at the muscles and veins of his arms. Also a slightly better angle, the horse feels "heavier", more massive.
Ruben, colours look nice, did you use a polarizer? I like 13 one page back, and the rock and soil shots. very intense colours!
mshi: I like your second one, simple, but effective.
No, I didn't use a polarizer. Like a I said before, the light on that day wasn't good for photography, so I got to apply a bit of more edition than usual in some of them.
Hugo, maybe it's not my bussiness to tell it but i feel like you're getting better and better each time you posted, great images, i really enjoy them, 1 and 2 are my favs, in the 3rd one, i'm confused about the dof and the focus point.
Mshi - great BW flowers! And wonderful berry shots - I especially like the first one!
John - lovely macros!
alkanphel - great shallow depth images. Pure cream!
Bob - very moody city scenes!
Hugo - a blast of color! I always like how you compose your images! Well done!
Went for a hike today again... still cold and grey... place I went to is called Town of Mount Vernon...
and all that's left of Town of Mount Vernon is a tiny graveyard. Dr. Joseph Castro founded the town of Mount Vernon in the Jefferson Territory in 1859 as a supply stop for the mines. He offered building lots in the town at no cost for those who would build on them. The territory governor Robert W. Steele settled in the town, which became the de facto capital of the territory. There was no capitol building and legislature had to meet in various buildings, including the stage stop. The capital of the territory moved to Golden in 1860. The town also staged a stop on the Wells Fargo Express and was part of the Mount Vernon Canyon toll road that leads to Park County. The political power of the town shifted away toward Denver. Steele moved to Georgetown and founded the Belmont Mine on a silver vein. With that, the town of Mount Vernon slowly faded away. By 1885, only the Matthews family was official residents of Mount Vernon.
Diploneis, thank you for the interesting history there. Beautiful winter scenery and I particularly like the second one. Did you use any ND grads at all for those shots?
Joakim, cyra, Akul, thanks for your comments. They are much appreciated!
Bob, lovely set from Bruges. The show stopper for me is the first one, though I wonder what it might be with a bit less vignetting added in.
Ajay, brilliant shot of the GGB!
Martynas, nice work!
Thanks Diploneis! I've been shooting them wide open, which makes even shooting these small things hard with the razor thin DOF! And I love your shots of the Town of Mount Vernon as well, they have a bleak but poignant feel to them.
And here's the other 2 shots of set 2:
I wish I could provide a sense of scale but these plants are smaller than the nail on your little finger
mshi - wonderful closeups. I like the #1 from the previous set ( a leaf shot ) and the #2 from the new set, the winter berry.
Bob - Powerful shots from Bruge. I love the way how gold statue stands out from the dark surroundings on #1. Composition of the monstrous tree branch in foreground with old building behind works perfectly.
Hugo - Beautiful river shots. Great tonality and color. Also love the 100 MP shots.
Martynas - Wow, great set. 'Nothing lost forever' series, I love the way how you captured the space from various viewpoints. First one is super powerful, yet I love all others too. They enhance each other. Great color and tone. 'Untitled' is another beautiful shot. I like the way how distant goes to OOF slightly. What lens ?
Alkanphel - Beautiful shots. I really love the way how you fill the OOF area with lush color, and yet focused area is dead on focused. Beautiful.
