I've just ordered a 21mm ZE because of the posts on this thread. Are you guys using UV or CP filters on them? I have read conflicting accounts.
Yes, this thread is very expensive! Picked up a ZE 50 MP today (sorry, nothing to share yet as the weather here is dreadful), so for now I'm done with the 21, 35/2 and the 50MP. As long as I'm on a 'crop I will hang onto the Canon 100L 2.8 Macro because of the IS.
To answer your question Steve, years ago I ruined a lens with sea water spray. So now I always use B&W UV-Haze MRC. I don't believe they deteriorate image quality in any way, but on the '21 it might introduce more flare, 82 mm is a lot of flat glass under a small shade.
As they say "the most fun is in the waiting/preparation", but you will love that '21. Show us the results.

karelg - dreadful weather? You're not going to let a little breeze stop you from testing out that new 50MP are you?
Bob (tongue in cheek): as a part time Dutchman you should ask "Ben je van suiker?" (are you made out of sugar?), because someone made out of sugar will melt in the rain... (or any other bad weather)
Well, I have a few boring pics of an ugly town to show for, and quite a few Makro (Planar) pictures with both me and the subject shaking in the wind...
Malkovic - I really like the pile of logs few pages back. Great deep saturated color and slow transition to oof. Also the frozen water from the same set was beautiful. B/W lake shot in another set was another my favorite.
Hugo - Beautiful low tide shot. And the waterfall shot and the river shots are stunning. You are quite amazing in capturing beauty of water movement. And, congrat on your Leica X1.
Bob - Great shots from Utrecht. Amazing color and great composition. The night shot of Dom Tower is fabulous, however I must say I love your capture of bicycles.
rsolti13 - Wonderful set from cemetery. Somehow all B/W shots spoke to me strongly. #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11 are all great. My most favorite is #2, just love the composition and film like grain, just works for me. Perfect CD album cover photo for composer like Arvo Pärt.
mshi - I really like the B/W street shot with 35/2. The man walking with confident stride, coinciding with the photo of runner on the background advertisement making a strong composition.
Alkanphel - Great close ups of plants. Wonderful color and bokeh. Water drops are really effective.
Dalmas - I enjoy your style of shooting from above very much. It is really intersting how drama starts to unravel from such view point. #3 ( vertical position ) is my most favorite.
Ruben - Great shots. I love #4, 5, 6. Amazing detail of rocks, I get strong sense of height from those photos. Also the series of cracked soil is very tactile and gives me warmth, although it might have been cold out there.
Paolo, do you mean a serial number? They have no intrinsic meaning but they are sequentially numbered and the numbers go back to the 1920's or something. There are lists of sequences on various web sites that can help you pin down when your lens was made but it's typically just for older lenses. If you want to find out when a newer lens (such as ZE/ZF) was made the easiest thing is to email the serial number to Zeiss and ask them.
