We a lot of the the experience with ZE lenses in this forum, what is your pesonal thoughts with the stiffnes of the focusing ring of the ZE 50MP compared to the ZE 100MP. I find the ZE 50MP is a lot stiffer. Maybe it because it is a more complicated mechanism.

Charles, I don't remember my 50MP ZE to be that much stiffer than the 100MP ZE.
Maybe a little bit... But frankly I was not paying attention...
100MP ZE is perfect in my opinion. They all are
I have no one else but to blame you folks, Lloyd Chambers (in addition to myself) for putting me on this path. It costed me pretty much all my Canon L lineup. And I am glad. Saved the plastic fifty for those fast moving bird, action and BIF shots !!

My 50 MP ZE is so much stiffer then my 100 MP ZE, honestly though, they're both a joy to use.
The 35 ZE is a bit looser then the 100 MP ZE, but again still a joy to use.

I "exchanged" everything for 35/2 and 100/2 MP.
Once you go Zeiss, you never go back.. THANK YOU.
Except for those fine new TS-E lenses like the 17 and 24 mk2.
Congrats on your new ZE lenses and we look forward to seeing your shots here!
Enjoy!
Oh, I know some people mentioned on here that there 35 ZEs focus beyond infinity... I've done a few basic tests, and I'm pretty sure that mine doesn't do that. When I adjust the focusing ring right to the end, then point it at the sky, it lights up on a cloud, er if I point it at very distance trees it does the same... I'll have to do some liveview 10x on tripod shots later on next week to determine if it's correct or not, but just wanted to mention it.
Um.. Yeah I caved and got the 35/2
Both my 50 and 35 focus a hair beyond infinity. While I wish that they did not do that, it is not a big deal. My 21 does not the infinity stop is dead accurate. Not sure how the 100/2MP is tho that is my next lens!
BennyR - I was never really happy with my 35L, I'm so happy with my 35 ZE that my cheeks hurt from me smiling like an idiot all day.. Pick one up, use it, if you find you like your 35L better, just sell it and take a $50-100 hit.. It's a fantastic lens, and it will definitely fetch high on the resale market.
I have a feeling that you'll keep it though.. Unless of course you need the f/1.4
Hi all - been lurking on the alternative forum for a while now researching which ZE lens to pickup.... and now I finally took the plunge and went for the 35/2
I'm still learning to manual focus, does anyone use a specific focus screen on their 1d class camera to help or is just a case of practice makes perfect?
Congratulations on your new ZE 35 - it is a great lens - I really like it - use it lots. I use an EG-D screen on a 5D mkII - D gives me horz and vert lines which I need. I have no trouble focusing the f2 35 with that setup. I am sure they make a fine screen for your camera.
Congratulations. I have been using a Eg-S on the 5DII. It is very good, but I am used of MF with the split focusing screens.
I am fairly sure the 1D have better options for MF screens. There are other screens that are available, and do check them out, but my experience is that do not work, that the split focus is correct, but the lens is still out of focus. I know this in not everyone's experience, but just a heads up.
Just completed my set of ZE lenses. I just received the ZE 50 f1.4. What a great light lens, compact and so easy to use. I would most definitely use this in preference to the 50L, just on weight and size is a huge benefit. This will be so good for low light photography, where you want to blend into the background.
I am awaiting a new focus screen to come in at the local camera shop for my DS3. However, I find focusing using live view is great for static subjects. Even hand held, using the LCDVF, live view is very accurate and works well for me. I look forward to having a replacement screen for increased speed, but I suspect less accuracy.
