Spectacular, Blueshadows!
Stunning, Lars! Brilliant use of ZE 21!
Bob, my question is, using your assumption, which I share, that 50MP and 100MP offer a very similar rendering, how do you compare that of Planar 50 f:1.4 with that of the MP siblings? Not only sharpnesswise, but in terms of colours, contrast, and overall "look"?

Philippe - re the 50 Planar versus Makro-Planar, I really need more time to learn and study this lens. Give me a bit more time. I only put it to the test once so far and I was focused on my ability to handhold. Stay tuned . . .
Agreed (at least in so far as "stronerst means "strongest" )". The second and third shots are the kinds of shots I would have made. The first is above that
Philber, carstenw and mortyb, thanks! I think I'll have to adjust my sharpening scrips, because the first one is terribly oversharpened. That's at f/11, and the MP is still giving a very unforgivingly short DOF.
rji2goleez, very nice mood in those shots! I especially like the last one.

That second shot on the first set was taken handheld at ISO6400 through an empty storefront. I actually first saw the shadows in the first image, turned the corner to find the second image.
As for the planar 50, I realize how sharp the MP is, even at wide open. However, everyone says it's just like the 100MP which I sometimes find difficult to handhold. Mind you, I shoot a lot on a tripod but I like to be able to walk the streets as well. I wanted to see if the planar would work well handheld. Even if an experiment, it is a lot less costly than the MP. I may still get it someday! Clearly, the 50 Planar is sharp from f/2.0 on as stated by Philber and Makten and I find it is easier to handhold than the 100MP but marginally less easy than the 35 f/2 or 21 Distagon. Some of this is to be expected just based on the focal length.
Here's a couple from last weekend with the 35 f/2 (handheld)....Show more →
Bob - Thanks for taking time to respond. I have been enjoying looking at both MP and Planar shots from contributers in this thread. I can see MP is a spectacular lens, but something about Planar intrigues me. I can't put finger on it, it may be the sense of space it renders... Like the room shot on the first series of yours. .. Well it could well be the people who are using the lens are just very skilled. Ha ha.
Anyway, great shots with both 35 and 50planar. Boat shot with 35 is quite surreal, and the last one with 50 is stunning.
blueshadows - That is very pretty !!
Lars - Stunning shot with 21 !
Makten - I really love how you play with expanding and compressing three dimensionality. Like Philber said, the first looks like a contemporary painting.
Here are some shots with ZF21. It has been a little while shooting with 21, now I feel like I need to re-learn this puppy all over again. ( Not so bad, pay once and enjoy many times )

A little tribute to Philber - a statue !!
Colonade of 'Low Library', the name may be sort of a joke as I was told that the library stands on the highest point in Manhattan. ( It could well be a big sponsor's last name too. )
A bit of a post card shot ?? sorry, I could not resist...
Good news / bad news. First, the good news. Ec-S focusing screen arrived from B&H today. The swap took literally 30 seconds in my 1D Mk III. The bad news: there are now 3 little flecks/spots of some sort in my viewfinder... :-/ I was super-careful, touched nothing. Oh well....
The good news (also): I can now manually focus (without LV) even with my F***d up eyesight...
Test shot from tonight's beach walk with the 35mm f/2 (hand held):
Akul, I love you statue shot (of course!) and your last one.
Diploneis: awesome set! I just don't know which is my favorite, 'cause they all are!
Lovely scene, John!

I also got my Ec-S focusing screen yesterday. I will try it today. But I did a quick try in my home yesterday with the 1Ds3 and that screen. It was nice but not really any improvement when shooting f/2,8 glass like me ZE 21. The original focusing screen in the new Canon 1 series bodies are good
But together with my fast glass like 85/1,2 or 50/1,2 it was rather nice
Philber - I am glad you enoyed the statue set. When I saw the lion, I had to take it. it is no where near your statue series though.
Diploneis - Great shots. They are all beautiful. My favorites are #1, #4, #5, #6.
Jon - Beautiful sun set ! Nice composition with the flying people, ah, paragliders.
Guys with 100MP. I have a question. How do you find focusing medium distance subject with it I am considering the 100MP but wonder how tough it would be as I understand the focus throw is quite small for that range.

Guys, I'm so utterly impressed by all the great shots posted in this thread it almost feels unfair to single some of them out. But Bob, I simply love your shots of the door sign and the sneakers, great stuff!!
I've been feeling somewhat uninspired lately, but I took a brisk walk today and found these left behind mittens. Nothing much to write home about picturewise perhaps, but there's just something really sad about it that appeals to me.
