That first shot is really nice, Philippe. In some of these shots, there is a slight tilting in of vertical lines. How about framing a little looser and correcting the verticals, for a more architectural-photography look?
donuss: I really like your b/w clay shaping photo. One of those quite rare instances where the absence of color really adds an extra dimension. Well done!

OK, guys, I guess I have to declare that I am now officially in a rut. I went out to Chantilly Castle this morning. Light was just about as good as it gets, and I had my bag of lenses with me. The result? Disappointing. A few good shots, and even so, not that many considering how gorgeous the site is. Great shots? Nah....
I need to do something about it. My guess is that I am trying too hard to achieve a result, rather than going with the flow. Am I trying to impress and keep up with the Joneses? I actually felt under pressure this mornng, and made a number of technical mistakes. This is WRONG!...Show more →
Philippe, Luka describes the perfect attitude: when you go out shooting, go with a view to simply enjoy yourself. You shouldn't feel pressure to get results.
Your frustration with not getting satisfactory results indicates the problem which you already diagnosed yourself: not being able to go with the flow. Creativity flows from the source of happiness, but if you're stressed about something you won't be able to enjoy what you do. That stress is the root of the problem. Going with the flow means having inner flexibility and letting the supreme intelligence of Nature take charge over your puny human intelligence, and materialize the vision of the shot you have. That is the process of creating art. If you can't enjoy this process, it means you're preoccupied with some unnatural (consciously or not) obstruction.

The first shot of your second series is brilliant. Composition is just perfect to my eyes, with the spear on the right, rider on the left middle, stair coming down in the middle and the planter at the bottom right. Very strong geometry. Beautiful. Struggle? I don't know what you are talking about
It's thanksgiving weekend in Canada and the fall colours are mostly past their prime at my cottage in Ontario. Thankfully, the ZE 35 does a great job of extracting the most out of what little colour is left.
