Hugo, nice shots and pretty good landscapes you got there in Madeira
ViscaB, that panorama looks pretty cool
Im not a big fan of hdr, but since Ive been pretty bored; catched flu and stupid weather outside, I played abit inhouse with camera and some glassware and tadaa:
Thanks for the comments on that pano! It took me ages to make it. I blended each of the 9 images from 2 exposures (middle and long exposure) using LR and Photomatix (plug-in) and then finally blended in the billboards from the shortest 0.8 second exposure manually. Somehow I can't get good results using the RAW converter in PTgui.
I'm impressed by the Zeiss after sales service. My 35 2 was de-centered and today they have given me a completely new lens as a replacement. At f/7 it was practically not visible anymore but I might get a bit more sharpness now than in the pano I posted.
akul, when shot wide open - f/5.6 or so at infinity there is very slight field curvature. It is all but gone at f/8. Very much more controlled than the 18/25/28
Thanks. So, am I right that there is no noticeable field curvature at close distance but it pronounce itself a little at infinity ? That sounds really interesting. I always assumed the level of curvature stays the same, just the curved plane move back and forwad in space as you focus. It seems more complicated than that.
CY 28 2.8 I own has really strong curvature especially visible in short distance, but works great for certain subjects. I am now curious how that plays out at infinity. That may be the reason why I have not liked using it at near infinity as much.
This shot, Joakim, demonstrates why I love this lens: so easy on the eye, so nice colours, and lots of detail too. Well done! [goes off and dons flak jacket before the artillery fires]
