I can almost feel the enjoyment of shoot manual Zeiss with big bright D850's OVF for these images. Nothing approach the pleasure out of that experience from photography Nowdays, I get those enjoyment from Leica S and Nikon DF for the similar that Z7 can't give me.
People brag about how advanced their systems are but forget for most of people (include who feel good about their tools' tech) the pleasure of this hobby is not flying AF point and 10FPS in-focused images.
Thank you for remind me that pleasure and truth about photography. These images brought smile on my face. ...Show more →
Following on my happy success with the 28/2 ZE on Sony a7r/a7R2, I found a great deal on eBay for an 18/3.5 ZE + caps and hood ($430), which ought to pair well with the 28. Fellow ZE enthusiast and friend, Jim Colwell, had done some extensive comparisons of the Zeiss 18 ZE, and I feel confident I can handle it minor CA issues with LR, along the lines of the 28. Should have some photos in a week or so.
My ZE line-up is now 18/3.5, 25/2, 28/2, 35/2. Possibly look next for 50/2 macro. Good times!

As you know most of the "classic" line is reported to exhibit demonstrable CA at/near wide open (exceptions being the 25/2 and the 135) when challenged but I don't see it as compromising my images in any significant way at all.
What little there is cleans up with a minor tweak.
In any case I am looking forward to your images with the 18.
