Chuck,
We are travelling to Kalahari, Nxai Pan, Lagoon, Lebala, & Kwara camps, all with Kwando safaris in Apr.-May. These are private camps with a max. of 16 guests, mainly on private concessions bordering the parks. The advantages are night drives, the ability to go off road, completely open vehicles and the option to hire private vehicles. And everything is "top-drawer". This is a great (but somewhat expensive) option as it makes game drives completely flexible for photographers. It's better if you have 2 couples with similar interests as the cost becomes much more reasonable. Don G.
Larry,
Thanks I'll do my best but don't have any bear.

Rob, Thanks for the welcome.

Hi Don,
We do something along the same lines only use Wilderness Safaris. Small camps, private guides and vehicles. Our favorite camps are Mombo, Vumbura Plains, Savuti, Duba Plains, Kwetsani, Chitabe, Little Vumbura and Tubu Tree. Yes it gets pretty expensive. We travel alone, that way we have the maximum amount of freedom to plan our days and to stay at interesting sightings. We usually go out after a particular species and focus on that until I capture what I'm after. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not. With leopard, wild dog, and cheetah it's a crap shoot and luck is an important factor. We are usually out in the Bush when the rest of the camp is just waking up in hopes of picking up fresh track. Nothing like patience, a good guide, and a bit of luck. Even with Lion, I was able to capture a pride taking down an adult Cape Buffalo very early in the AM while the rest of the camp was still having breakfast. Have a great safari, I'll have to give Kwando a try sometime.

It is making me jealous reading where you guys are planning to go for you next safari!
If we're recommending places to go, I'd like to throw in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia - stunning wildlife, excellent guiding and some very smart camps (Robin Pope or Norman Carr camps).
