My neighbor's cat Jake was busy grooming himself when I arrived home this afternoon. Because I had a camera in my hand with the 180 f/2.8 AI-s ED lens mounted I couldn't resist taking a few shots as he "washed" his face...

Ok, I'm not much for cat shots. I've never posted one and I'll probably never post another. But last night as I was testing a lens, I came under attack:
These creatures are really weird, mine is also a real headache but can't think of a life without her
Mine have never done anything like this. However, Pushka will rake her teeth across your hand if you don't pay proper attention to her ears. Not enough to hurt, just enough to get your attention.
Caught this shot yesterday with the 300 f/4.5 AI-s ED-IF mounted on a D700. My good friend Tommy is about to move with his family, so this may be one of the last photos I catch of him. This was shot manual mode wide open with a shutter speed that blew out essentially all but his face. I rather like the result.

Wonderfully done, and a rather modern approach. When I look at wedding portfolio's or model shot, they're all overexposed nowadays.
And I'm really sorry that Tommy is about to move. I don't k now whether the family is moving far away, but you never know, he might come back to you.

His name is Nikon, shot with a Nikon D70, 18-70mm lens. He is an F2B Savannah, and in this picture, was 10 weeks old and weighed in at over 4lbs. He comes home to me in a couple of weeks.
Thought it was fitting that he picked up the Nikon lens cap, and not the Canon lens cap

Klepto-cat caught in the act!
This isn't a great shot but in honor of this lovely black cat I have to post it. I was awaiting repair of a tire that had somehow found a nail and was rambling around the neighborhood when this cat appeared at the window of a shop that appeared to have closed some time ago. I could imagine the cat living alone in a space filled with mattresses and headboards similar to what was in the window, perhaps watching out for mice. Whatever, he very much wanted to say hello to me and I very much wanted to tickle him under the chin... but alas, the dirty glass was between us. He followed me as though longing for that tickle. This was shot with the 50 f/1.2 AI-s.
I love black cats. I even lived with one that I called "Black Cat." I held him when he died and buried him while his body was still warm... I miss him.
